@analogoutput mentioned his first Kosmo module, Mikrokosmos, in the build thread, but I think it deserves its own thread in the Kosmo Modules category.
I was lucky enough to trade one with him and I’m super happy with it. The attached Piezo is a lot of fun, but it’s also a great preamp for any piezo-equipped item, like a rusty old Kalimba I have. I will try to get some sound samples put together at some point, but for now here are my build pictures. I sanded down a bit of the back side solder mask and soldered the Piezo straight to the panel like on the Music Thing Modular original:
Indeed, I have not even looked at what it does LOL… but 5 boards landed in the UK from JLC today… As I mentioned in the other thread I am happy to send the ones I don’t need to other UK members at cost.
I just fixed a problem, not with the functionality but the aesthetics — at least I hope I fixed it. I’d omitted the copper fill on the front panel, outside the scratch area. Not needed electrically and it doesn’t much matter with white or black solder mask, but with other colors, especially yellow, the result doesn’t look as good. I just pushed an update for that.
I don’t have any more PCBs; you can find the Gerbers at https://github.com/holmesrichards/Mikrokosmos and use them to order some, or maybe you can find one or more others interested in going in on an order.
Panel or no panel is up to you but I recommend it, it has a textured scratch area that works pretty well for making noises. (And you could get it made in white on black if black on white bothers you… or even white on yellow, now that I fixed the no copper fill problem!)
If your not in the UK and want to cover the extra mail then I have 4 spare pairs at cost, although they are missing the front solder mask(?) but not a technical issue just visual…
I have not got round to the build, went to print the BOM today but got distracted…
