Soo, here is the first aluminum panel that I made. Sam’s MS20 filter in Eurorack size. For the first time I am quite satisfied, but I also learned 2 things. First of all, take more time to glue. Second, trying to remove air bubbles with a bank card is a stupid idea, you can see that on the cutoff lettering and the scale … But what the heck, it’s the first time something like this can happen, it’s part of the learning process.
very nice work ! …
looks good , how did you do the lettering ?
they are pretty easy boards to build lots of room plus documentation . and plenty of help here if things go bad . so good luck .
Its comming along nicely. Time for a cuppa break I think. The only part ive guessed at is the trim pots orientation, ez fix if its wrong tho.
Trim pot orientation doesn’t matter here, so you’re good.
Make sure to check out the actual thread for this as it gives a good tip ( the other day ) for getting it set up.
I think mine is right now

Meanwhile my VCLFO sits here in a corner not functional…
My mixer’s (internal) power supply needed to be recapped. I’d been holding off because I always had something going that I didn’t want to unplug. Tonight was the night, though. Here are the internals pre-op:
It’s hard to tell, but one of the big caps was really bulging. I discovered this when I got the mixer back in March or April:
I had some nice Sprague 10,000uF that were meant for a different project that never materialized:
And we’re back to normal:
I measured the capacitance of the retired caps. The one that wasn’t bulging measured 10,000 bang on, the other one measured 9,500. Not a big difference, but it was clearly going downhill.
They should be 10000 mu-F, shouldn’t they? Still close to spec I would say. Did you notice anything in the behaviour of the mixing desk that made you want to check its power supply?
Yes, 10,000 μF. Hadn’t noticed anything that I could pin on that, but I opened it up to clean it when I got it and the deformity was noticeable.
Built my first eurorack module and first inhabitant of @d42kn355’s Kosmo/Euro Playset!
Extralife instruments super-sixteen which recently got pushed thru on Kickstarter
Yeah Ive been looking at that too, smart and simple. Excited to hear a review, when you can, let me know how you like it.
I just ordered 3.5mm cables today, I’ll try and figure it out and take a vid
3.5 mm, that’s extremely short, for a cable.
Ahhhhh!!! I’m still waiting for my PCB/Panel set to arrive. When did you get yours?
Nice! An open source sequencer! This will come in VERY handy!
I bought this self-adhesive transparent film and printed it with the laser printer. There are different versions, also for inkjet printers. It is easy to work with.
