Today I received the boards for this project. I must say, I’m quite thrilled everything works. That’s not to say i dont see improvements in the horizon, but as a proof of concept, I’m happy to report success. Since this project is now far enough along, I think its worth a showing.
The plan to split the duty across two boards works. The ribbon cables work splendidly.
Here You can see some different configurations for the control modules.
This will be the first opportunity for improvements, since this module is quite small. One thing I found was that as i was building one of these, I messed up soldering one of the Alpha pots. Since the other pot footprint was also available, I was able to swap for a different pot with no issue.
Here are all the board all connected up. As they are loos and not in a modular case yet, it looks a bit more in disarray, but i think it is quite usable even in this state.
I have the firmware written, and only a few steps remain.
The MIDI Channel selector works, but the serial MIDI connection needs to be corrected, since I wired the TX of the 5 Pin DIN to the CAN bus by accident. As it is, I am using the USB interface for the moment for MIDI, but i will need to adjust this for the future.
