Took this pic when I was building mine
is the inductor that large on the original?
fast work though .
Hopefully the reason the cap was polarised originally will just be a continuing mystery. ( perhaps someone put it there on purpose to confuse future cloners and cause pointless discussion )
No idea. Certainly not meant to be that large on the clone. But that’s part of the fun.
The tall yellow cap is not a polarized cap. The black ring at the top end signifies which of the leads is connected to the outside foil end the capacitor is made off (rolled up foil). It is often recommended to connect that side in the circuit to the point with the lowest potential or gnd so that the outside of the capacitor has a shielding effect (to ward of unwanted RF-signals). For reference, see:
What are you putting in the center row that’s open? Just curious
the narrow row down the center ? or the two open rows ? . the narrow rows down the center not sure yet , funny thing I was thinking about rebuilding the boxes a little wider [ 3’ / 92 cm ] for the Kosmo stuff lol . the empty rows in between will get the delays , midi and what ever Sam comes up with . I plan to put the Kosmo modules I have purchased from other people here on the forum in the case next to these two and keep these two just LMNC stuff .
i made a case out of some extra gnarly plywood over the last two days. Love it. now I’m waiting on some connectors to make longer ribbon cables before I start to screw panels in. not a bad entry into modular so far and holy heck does it sound good.
next up: a few LFOs, splashback, buffered and unbuffered multiples
thanks for all your help so far. much appreciated
Module one of the sequncer, with my VCO and the LMNK quad VCA… The voltage control of the VCA seems quite limited. Not sure whats going on there. And the VCA Left LED’s don’t seem to work.
Had a couple of issues with the dual VCA, the interface pins between the main and control board are only just touching. Had to add some washers to pack the front panel to push the pots further in.
looking and sounding good . love the name [ cheap step pro ]
Nice! Is that PCB? I just typed 200 by 400 mm into https://pcbshopper.com/ and wow. Now I remember why my sequencer panel is aluminum.
Nice to see this project in the real world. :3
it is!! ^^
64hp of eurorack space - takes a set of custom cut 68hp vector rails (no lip)
Eurorack modules fit flush with it too!
Will have a format jumbler on the side ^^
i have absolutely no idea why that was italic… lol
did not seem to expensive when I checked JLC directly, did not get to shipping mind…
Shipping’s half of it…
the shipping was ridiculous… lol
Its the shipping that’s held me back from ordering so far.
