I was inspired by that tiny SMD breakout board someone posted on here a while back. I can barely solder 0805 resistors, let alone 0402 or whatever that board used, so I mutilated Sam’s schematic and bang! (metaphorically)
Today I put one in its new home - a 2.5mm Kosmo module. This time I tried a neater 3D printed mount that slots in between the pot and the panel. It worked really well apart from the fact that I had neglected to measure the actual size of the PCB, which meant that the mount is half a millimetre too wide. No big deal, I used a cable tie to hold it in place. This has got to be one of my neatest builds yet.
In other news, I finished a stripboard version of Sam’s mini envelope generator which ended up a total ratsnest, and also added the hi/lo pass switch to one of my MS20 filters.
Wow, I really like that mounting idea!
Nice mounting bracket !
Pretty forest knobs !!!
Was messing around with a Wii Nunchuck for a totally unrelated animatonics project. Got me thinking, how about an interface module for them? They have an analog joystick, two buttons and a 3-axis accelerometer. Even wireless ones exist. Might be a cool way of controlling the synth. Thoughts?
I think @HAGIWO made one!
You can connect the full Wii controller to an esp32 via Bluetooth. Even put a pair of ir led on your case so you can control in real space.
Of course, cool!
Now that’s an interesting idea too, just point at stuff! Bet you can get an incredible number of parameters out of that thing.
Touch free synthesis! Point the controller at a knob to change it’s value.
Yesterday I created a new case and made 4 new modules (two of them not 100% feature complete), now it looks empty again Unfortunately I could not really work on my modular the past weeks but at least I could spend a whole day yesterday
I definitely need a good kick drum and more percussion sounds! That’s the next step…
We also did a quick jam session last night, the synth makes already a lot of fun, even with this ridiculously low number of modules here is a short capture:
Been working my way through the kits I have - next up was a TubeOhm Phoenix - which is a version of Mutable Instruments’ Shruthi. This one has an EDP Wasp style filter based around a CD4069:
It was around midnight last night when I finished it up, so couldn’t crank it too loud or play with it too much, but just the init patch sounds pretty nasty.
Love the demo, what’s generating the ‘snare’?
thx, it’s the Clave of the Twin T drummer with some delay
