AniMoog into coco - Vocals through distortion… Torment…
sounds great , how are you recording ?
thx
All my modular voices (about ten) go through a big external attenuator before entering in my mixer table.
Then in the mixer table I adjust the equalization, the reverb, the panoramic …
The left and right output of the mixer goes into 2 inputs of my audio interface to record with the computer on only 2 tracks.
Then I position the 1 track on the right and the other on the left to have a stereo rendering.
For my 1st modular recordings, I was putting all my voices in my mixer module and output all the modular on one track, without pan and no individual adjustment on the external mixer.
Now i put the kick alone in a track, bass, melodies too … it’s really better, but the best would be to record all in multi-track with a 12-input audio interface to be able to have all the tracks separated in computer, for a better mixing, but i don’t have it.
I really can’t wait to hear from your beast.
btw there are a few people here that i would also like to hear their sound someday, for example @analogoutput
sounds good even without mutli tracking in computer , but yeah that would be nice. I have basically the same type of set up . gives me hope that with some practice and working things out I will be able to get a good sound .
This, I guess, is my first track. Pretty basic bass line and arpeggio from my DIY synth. Drums from an MC-101.
Cheers
Don’t forget that plenty of electronic music is “simple”. Sounds good m8.
the vid don’t work for me ??
wasn’t any sound on mine
Nice!

yes it’s good, and some good bass too !
btw it’s a very brutal end (maybe a simple fading out )
I must admit to ‘un certain manque de finesse’. This was all multitracked driven by midi (Reaper → Keystep → CV/GATE), so I’m hoping to go back and work on it some more, including a more satisfying ending. Problem is, now all the patches are gone. Maybe this is the beauty of modular, all sounds are ephemeral.
Cheers
A nice “bath drum”
Hi everyone!
Didn’t post a lot those past weeks (I’ve some new module to share … I’m working on it).
I was busy releasing an album with plenty of sounds made with my DIY modular: Brighter - YMNK
Cheers
Got a bit more noodling done, definitely an experiment and a work in progress, but thought I’d share anyway. Constructive criticism greatly appreciated.
- I need to work on EQing
- I need to work on composition - the ‘drop’ is somewhat lacklustre
- It needs more body - was planning on multitracking some pad type chords but ran out of weekend
- Even though I ran all the synth parts through a tuner - it sounds out of tune - need to look at that
- The midi’s a bit jumpy in places. A real mouse on the laptop might help, trackpad’s are naff
Cheers

What feel are you trying to go for with this track? right now it sounds very mellow, which is good. I feel if you compressed the drums and EQ’d them to have more presence, it would harsh the track’s mellow vibe. There’s a bit of high freq noise in the 7839Hz range. I would add a -10 db cut with a wide-ish Q (round 0.3) there to cut the harshness down.

I did not even register a “drop”. I see two times in this track (2:14 and 3:19) where there could be drops, but it lacks a buildup to the drop and it does not fully cut the bass track. This is not necessary though, especially if we are talking ambient territory, which this feels like its direction is leaning.

This will help a lot. Multitrack record some chords with a chorus and verb to your tastes, and it will chunk it out. I would also add some stereo shaping. If you want to keep the mellow floaty vibe, I recommend a I - II Lydian flavor.

Personally, I like the phasing caused by the detuned arps. I have a taste for dissonance, but i really dont think its too far, by a long shot.

Not super certain what you are referring to here.
I hope you dont mind (I can delete them if you want) I have rendered part of your noodle with some diff EQ and mastering junk, as well as a version with the chords i was suggesting.
After listening, it sounds to me that boosting the transients of the snare and the attack of the kick was appealing after all.
