Music share thread - Share your work!

I’m going to put something a little different in here. I put some sensors to work… (2 of which I asked for help here) It was one heck of a stressful thing to do. So many cues. So many things going wrong… But I see potential.

First one: Light sensor, changing pitch and activating a clip having a repeatingly looped note. Using Arturia Pigments as a softsynth.

Second: Accelerometer. As an on/off switch. (tried using it as a volume as well, by twisting it, but the effect wasn’t really good)

Last: Contact mics, triggering previously live recorded samples.

edit: missed the mics: First one was using alterboy. Second was just loads of reverb and delay so nobody could understand me.

Ostinato 2

Klassische Elektronische Musik im Stil der Berliner Schule.

(Classic Berliner Schule Electronic Music). Just one synth in several timbres, some rhythm, melody and reverb. Changing attack and release time now and then and letting the arpeggiator set the pace.
Sound source: Punch and Dirty Lead (Ableton Live).

LOL I didn’t catch the name until after I started thinking “Wow, what a lovely Billie Eilish-like vocal!” Nice production TK.

Okay, to anyone who hasn’t watched @Jokke 's “Dinnerforone” selection, I’d highly recommend watching it in full screen mode. Unfortunately it only appears to be an excerpt of a larger work, but it is visually arresting as well as auditorily. It seems to be a piece of performance art that uses electronic music as elements, but that description doesn’t begin to do it justice. I’m fascinated and I must ask, Jokke, is there a full version I could see somewhere? This reminds me of the work of Matthew Barney to an extent, or perhaps to Laurie Anderson. Nicely done!

Those are really kind words! Glad you’re fascinated.

I have a full version. But won’t put it online for several reasons…

  • Quite early in the experiment

  • There’s nudity

  • There will hopefully be a sequel

Hopefully I’ll be able to show some more in the future…

That’s a reason not to show it? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

While not explicitly expressed, i think people prefer to keep this forum work-safe ish. There exist the possibility for minors to be on this board and i think in many respects we should understand and act accordingly.

Well then-I’m glad I didn’t share the hardcore sea-shanty by Alestrom that’s been stuck in my head all week over in the inspiration thread!

good point , but nudity ? watched it again looking for the nudity which I didn’t remember seeing . I guess I didn’t see people in sheets and under garments as nudity. I did enjoy it though a cool art / music piece.

I was making a general observation.

Well, that came up because Jokke said there was a full-length version which he wasn’t sharing because of it. I was just making a suggestive stab at American puritanism in my earnest wish to see the whole thing-moles and all, but I can understand why he’d hesitate to post that here.

AFAIC it took quite a lot of chutzpah to post a video where the protagonist is wearing only tails and a Y-front. Seriously, if you haven’t checked this out, it’s cutting-edge theater (emphasis on the “edge.”)

in general Caustic is right this is an open forum and we should keep it clean . no telling what age someone is or if they are easily offended by such things . maybe give warning and drop a link to the item posted elsewhere .

Hmm, Jokke introduced himself as being from Belgium, so I’m not sure. But had he been Dutch, which he still could be, I would not be surprised if the nudity he is speaking of would be all revealing and confrontational to a lot of people. Often in Dutch movies there is some nudity. Well, ‘there is some nudity’ is a eufemism the size of mount Everest. These scenes do not suggest events of a sexual nature, no they shows them in close up and such detail that people wonder why they have to be so confrontational and often why the scenes are in the movie anyway. But the film directors evidently seem to always be convinced that they are necessary to have them in the movie so this is often ironically called ‘funtioneel naakt’ (i.e. nudity with a function).

I lost the conversation a bit. I am from Belgium. But finishing my drama school in the Netherlands… So…

There is nudity in the full length version. Which is not online.
The biggest reasons is for the actress.
The nudity isn’t sexual.

Don’t want to derail the music share thread too much… But…

I think context is more important than seeing a naked body.

A Nicki Minaj music video is less kid friendly than a naked body. context.
That same video also makes us see that body as sexual. Which it isn’t, always. Actually most of the time it isn’t.

Also violence is more normalized than sexuality… Also a weird one imo.

I would even say that the nudity shown, is work safe. Because it isn’t vulgar. But I’m assuming that not everyone thinks about it the same way.

In the meantime let’s add some music.

This was a 1 day job. So quick recording and mixing.

yes the full on nudity probably would have distracted from the music / art . but as posted the video was still fun to watch , listen to . yes violence and sexuality are used as gimmick to sell the " artist’s" work way to much .
