I thought I was getting a great deal and impulse bought then I saw four more within $5.
I want to compare it to the Arturia virtual version and see if they model the same. I think a dude I used to know still has my room mate’s real Jupiter 8 as well-if he’s still alive and has it and we ever get out of quarantine I might see if he’s up for a side-by-side-by-side comparison.
Around 2 or 3 years ago I bought some of these. Jury’s still debating about them. The things that should’ve never been put on them was those ribbon controllers and the constraint at 4 notes polyphony. I guess Roland wanted to put their energy in TR-8S and MC-707. However these look attractive to my eyes and with a USB power hub I can see myself having a good time creating loops to use in sampler.
Yeah the ribbon implementation is weird. I can kind of see why they did it, given the built in speaker. It’s hard to imagine it ever sounding as big as the original given the small size as you noted. I guess we’ll see.
ok so 6 as3360 ic’s show up today from Electric Druid and I can’t remember what project they are for . I know what they can do and I looked at book marked pages and saved schematics but haven’t found out what I was planning …
well ok this order [ the 3360 's ] was from jun. 7 as far as I can tell it is the second of a accidental double order I did . and I have other another order from aug. 1 still pending [ different ic’s ] which I forgot about and double ordered that to . so I will have some ic’s to work with for awhile if and when they show up . was looking to build some of https://www.eddybergman.com/ stuff
The PCB for the cable tester via @analogoutput and some capacitors to finish up the VLPG. I’m still waiting on the multiplexer, but everything else is done.
Have already learned how to upload new patches to it in FISH (visual shLISP)
Here is the beautiful triangle wave/herringbone machine marks that peter’s CNC produces around the edges. (it was discussed on HAINBACH’s Single Malt Synthesis when Peter was a guest)
A synthesiser programmed in Lisp. Very tempting. And it’s a looker, too.
The Single Malt Synthesis episode is far too long for me at nearly four hours, I get bored watching unscripted talks. But for those interested here it is:
