someday those will come in handy , you never know
Mignon à vitrine supplies.
At breakfast time this came.
Some AA batteries unrelated to synth work.
Stiff brass wire.
Stiff copper wire.
Flux.
The idea is to form a stiff wire tripod providing the Eurorack power and then solder the components in between the legs. A three pin screw terminal block soldered at the apex holds the assembly together. This then gets smothered in clear epoxy resin to produce a beautiful and strong jewel case of electronic loveliness.
It’s breakfast time so I’m taking my daily mug of coffee and watching Saint-Saens Organ Symphony on YouTube. As well as being an excellent performance conducted by Mariss Jansons, this one is notable for its organist, Iveta Apkalna, who bears more than a passing resemblance to Princess Elsa. <insert Let It Go reference here.>
(I assume the flux is for the wire structure, not the electronics, because I’m not sure plumbing flux belongs near electronic components or on a PCB )
There’s no PCB. I’ve never soldered this kind of structure before so I’m winging it. That’s why I’ve bought both copper and brass wire. My father used to say that brass was notoriously difficult to solder, and I like the look of the metals so I want to work with untinned wire if possible.
just got this in the post. Have already mended the arm and got it working. Will be changing the pots, caps and heads too though.
Nice! Those go for a pretty penny in working order.
Found an envelope dated 2020-03-05 in my mailbox the other day, with some cheap DACs I don’t quite recall ordering, and a barely readable label. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there earlier this week.
ebay seems to indicate I have palced quite a lot of orders in 2020, a few hundred at a rough count. most arrived, maybee 4-5 have not… One order did turn up after 4 months and the resent order after 6! Like many of us, we can’t quite remember what we orderd them for!
There is one thing outstanding from Tindi, in the 4 months I have been waiting I have created my own better version of a PCB i ordered. And gone through two version of my own design delivered from China.
I get a bit frustrated with UK ebay sellers blaming the situation when it’s obvious they have just posted something later than advertised.

Electronic Goldmine? I got some of those power supplies a while back.
I ran out of 10 pin box headers and although I could use pin headers I am that dumbass who would probably put the cable on the wrong way and fry something. I haven’t yet, but I know there’s a chance so it’s best to admit that box headers are a good idea for me.
My Thonk order arrived so I can now finish up a couple of modules. Thought I might try some of those colored Befaco nuts on a few modules too.
@popflier AAHHHHHH i want ALLL THE BANANNUTS… lol
all.
I need to get some, I have none.
Yikes, those are expensive. Lovely colours, but €12.10 for 25 is outrageous, considering you can buy 25 plain hex nuts from Thonk at £1.80 including tax. Acrylic paint isn’t that expensive.
Pretty sure they’re anodized, and of course also produced in very small series.
I’m thinking of replicating the Serge colour codes or something similar with my banana jacks, but my ideas are mostly about washers. A thin card washer coloured by hand would do the job.
An anodised finish is going to look terrific on a posh Eurorack module, though.
now thats a nice bag of gold you have there.
some more MFOS pcb’s
a couple Frequency Central Routemasters [ 2 amp wall warts showed up yesterday ]
bags of mics. pots
vactrols for …
ssm 2010 ic’s for the MFOS vco’s
so it looks like I will be busy for a bit .
Have been collecting parts for a better dual supply to use for testing, and the last and most important part showed up today:
