The circuit is designed to receive a DMX512 signal and operate two switching relays to control CO2 cannons.
The part of the circuit bottom right provides isolated 5V to the DMX reciver. So if something fails on the high voltage side it should not take out the rest of the DMX fixtures and control.
It could easily be adapted to MIDI control as it’s just some changed to the Serial interface code and removing the serial transceiver.
Everyone seems to be sold out of either B10k or B100k or both so I decided to have some manufactured. My regular goto place for pots (Modular Addict) has been out of virtually everything for forever and there’s no sign they will get more in anytime soon. I saw on the boards that people were having a hard time finding B100k for projects as well.
I plan to keep some and sell some to others who may want/need them. I’ll post more details soon, but these are 6.35 round snap in B10k and B100k pots (300 of each) similar to Alphas. I opted to have the tab even though many take it off but maybe next time, if there is a next time, I will have them manufactured without the tab.
I have other items on the way too. More on that soon.
Thonk carries Alphas. These are similar to Alphas but they’re not Alphas. I did contact Alpha for a quote but their minimums were far too high. These are the same quality as the ones I get from Modular Addict here in the US and I’m pretty sure the exact same ones that a guy on Reverb is selling (same manufacturer.) These have a lower price point than Alpha’s. They made sense when I did the math compared to what I was paying to Modular Addict. I also don’t know how much longer I will have my job past my August 31st contract so looking for other ways to offset some costs. It’s a test for now.
At a nominal 10cm spacing and an approximately oblong arrangement, 600 potentiometers would occupy 6 square metres of panel space. I assume you went with the minimum viable production run of 300 for each of the two types. Time to open an eBay store.
Some solid core insulated wire and a few BC546 transistors. Alas, I still haven’t tried soldering the surface mount versions I received last week, the BC846. That’s what the solid core wire is for. These through hole ones are very large by comparison so I will go with the BC846 if my soldering ability is up to it. As I’m going to be using point to point technique either version will fit.
After spending about two months in US customs in Chicago, copies of my latest vinyl release finally showed up along with copies of other releases from the label. The box was beat to shit and the whole thing was soaked sometime to the point where five of the records were literally covered in mold and the labels discolored. The sleeves are mostly just falling apart and discolored in a cool zebra pattern. Oh well, there are enough that are relatively intact and vinyl is remarkably resilient.
