been listening to Colin for months , he is all over from ambient to hard driving techno stuff , just depends on the feel that day .
and he even will ask people on the chat what they would like to hear that day . he sometimes will explain patches and how and why of the gear he uses not to often because it seemed like most people were there just to listen and complained about him talking shop , which is to bad because his explanations on how gear works and his philosophy on how and why he uses his gear was really informative . just have to sift through some of the older lock down vids to find the shop talk ones .
Hopefully he could be persuaded to designate some of his sessions for shop talk and others for performance only. This way everybody would be happy.
well yeah but we can’t be demanding of an artist , just glad he shares what he does.
This is well away from my usual listening, but it’s a pleasure to watch. Stunningly great music from the genius band leader Cab Calloway and an unmissable performance from the Nicholas Brothers. Jumpin’ Jive. And those scat lyrics!
Hep-hep!
De-boodle-de-ack, de-boodle-de-ackasaki!
Hep-hep!
Oh, rang-tang, te-dah-dah,
Hep-hep!
Gonna tell you ‘bout the jumpin’ jive,
Hep-hep!
Jim, jam, jump, the jumpin’ jive;
Hep-hep!
Cats gonna beat out this mellow jive;
Hep-hep!
Beat it out on the mellow side.
Boy?
Whatcha gonna say there, gate?
Oh, boy!
Whatcha gonna say there, gate?
Palomar, shalomar, Swanee shore,
Let me dig that jive once more,
Boy!
Lay it right on down to the gator.
Oh, boy!
Lay it flat as a gator.
Now, can’t you hear those hepcats call,
Yeah!
Come on, boys, let’s have a ball!
The jim, jam, jump on the jumpin’ jive
Makes you dig your jive on the mellow side,
Hep-hep!
Hep-hep!
The jim, jam, jump is the solid jive
Makes you nine foot tall when you’re four foot five,
Hep-hep!
Hep-hep!
Now, don’t you be that ickeroo,
Get hep, come on and follow through,
Then you get your steady foo,
You make the joint jump like the gators do,
The jim, jam, jump on the jumpin’ jive
Makes you like your eggs on the Jersey side,
Hep-hep!
Hep-hep!
The jim, jam, jumpin’ jive
Makes you hep-hep on the mellow side!
cab is awesome and the Nicholas bothers really invented " modern " dancing .
I forgot a very important song, I have probably heard this song most of all in my life! The heavy drums, the choir, this FANTASTIC guitar, just the whole atmosphere that this song exudes is just amazing !!
Great cymbals and the slack bass drum is a brilliant drive
Frightful Friday with the japanese version of the Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse OST.
Fun fact, The japanese cart had an additional 3 sound channels provided by the VRC6 mapper. This gave the game’s soundtrack an additional two pulse waves, and one sawtooth. This is why this OST has a more full sound with chords and a lot of voices, the triangle bass is especially noticeable.
I was playing the old Lucas arts game Outlaws recently and forgotten how cool ‘some’ of the soundtrack is.
great song . the video is a chilling reminder of what we have let politics , religion , money , drugs do to us …
Thats a fact !!! Now i have to fill the 20 characters…oh…done
I’m listening to Radio 3 and these two musicians (Jess Gillam and Cecilia De Maria) are playing their favourite recordings. Here’s one, Terry Riley’s wonderful A Rainbow In Curved Air.
This 1969 piece probably inspired not only the name of an early synth band, but also some 1970s musicians such as Mike Oldfield and Kraftwerk. I think I first heard part of it on Radio 3, in a documentary about electronic music hosted by the composer Thea Musgrave in the early seventies.
And now they’re raving about Allegri’s Miserere, a regular favourite of mine.
BBC Radio Three is the most mind-expanding drug in existence.
If you’ve yet to … you should. Enjoy x
New TOBACCO is serioussss:
