Inspiration / what u listening to

The marriage of Japanese jazz fusion and 70s/80s sports cars is one of the greatest aesthetics ever. If an album/mix cover ever has a old Datsun or Toyota and Japanese writing on, you know it’s going to bang

So without actually watching the video, based on colors and knobs it looks like a Boss DD-3 Digital Delay, a BF-3 Flanger, and a GE-7 Equalizer.

A performance reminiscent of BabyMetal there. I miss the Japanese Goth girls yelling loudly though.

I never listened to Van Halen, possibly classed them as yet another bunch of swaggering American rock poseurs. This is a really great guitar solo, though.

I need to make a damn mixtape for 2020.

And of course got to include the video (worse audio):

Mixtape eh? I go one further…

I wrote a VB script that scans all the mp3s, wavpack (rips from my many cds), ogg, opus, wma, m4a files I have and stuffs them into an sqlite database. That script can then pick random tracks, and fill up a minidisc for me such that an artist only appears once per mindisc and use all possible space (well… at most 10 seconds remaining)

Is that going too far in this modern age of smart-phones and media players? Probably. But I prefer a separate music player, a separate camera and separate phone. I’m weird like that.

Just stumbled upon this Synth Fest 2020 France video, where the Master himself, Yves Usson, shows, describes and plays some of his synths:

Including Tanderine Dream style sequence …
