How’s everybody holding up?

I was rather confused myself. Swinging one leg over the bike and then … flat on the ground and yet another second, I was trapped in the bike. Fortunately some people helped me up but this was just outside the biggest grocery story so … EMBARRESSED!!!

Taking of embarressement, I did, yesterday evening and this morning doing great by making Gerber files out of all material I have on the Polivoks synth. There are eight boards (2 VCOs) and two mother boards.
I got the idea of getting me copies of the boards and maybe clone the synth. Most components are available apart from the VCA IC - K118UD1B - but there’s a nice solution to that, proposed by Erica Synth.

been one of those weeks…

Wife admited to hospital monday.
Kids forgetting house keys.
Car breaking down on busy junction. having to sprint home ( see dodgy knee )
Cat turning up at vet after lost 7 weeks.
Chronic joint pain in knee
dropping other car at garage and walking home with dodgy knee.
using pain killers for first time in forever.

And all whilst assuming an air of normality for work and all arround.

The sun is out though, the cat is back  life could be worse …

Relocating after getting death threats from a noisy coke fiend neighbour that had me stalked and had lads ready to ‘K.M.T.F.O’. Fun stuff.
Ah the joys of the north west. Always classy.
Gotta keep my gf safe and kitties out of harms way.

I had too much junk anyways, moving will be a good chance to practice some minimalism. Which is kinda hard when your hobby is picking up hobby’s =)
MTG, Magic tricks, poi, staff, flower stick, diabolo, juggling, CJ, yoyo, fpv quads, art, woodworking, sewing, soldering, archery, gaming (from retro to current), console hacking, music, synths, guitar/bass… you know… all of the things.

Cats have settled in to our in midway home alot faster than expected. I hate the mattress we’re on, pocket sprung type has spoiled me.

Its been nice to wake up in peace tho. So much less stress. Even the cats seem happier and more relaxed.

This fiend is more of a sliver, gets stronger with its buddies lol

My little ego took a hit with all the crap thats gone on over the 3 weeks of scatty brains tirade of BS.
Its nice to feel famous tho I suppose ‘shrugs’

On a plus note tho, my MiaW PSUs all work and i didnt pop any Caps. Pretty good going considering I was breaking down while soldering XD ha.
Got compliments on my soldering being ‘production standard’
Just gotta finish off the buss boards and get to spraying my case.
Make good times from bad times =)

Yikes! Makes my problems look like a polite contretemps over cream cakes in a Tea Shop.

And now I have to post an Armstrong and Miller sketch.

Hope the new place works out…

My elderly neighbours rented house has finaly been cleared by her family as shes now in a home… That means we will have new neighbours at some point for the first time in 14 years since we moved in. I hope the owner actualy sells it instead of re-renting…

Had my first Oxford Jab 20 mins ago. Hope I am one of the ones with minimal side effects else this lovely lookign weekend could be a write offf…

had both mine now , just had sore arm and was really tired for a few days after .
have heard varying degrees of shittyness though .
treat it like you just got an infection , cut out the drinking and smoking and get your vitamins , rest for a few days .

Lol well this whole thing has shifted my teenage perspective on my hometown. I used to think it was full of scally rats but now…
Its nice to walk on a pavement that has grass verges and wild flowers. I hadnt realised how gray and bland our last place was/is. The view was just red bricks and the backs of other houses. I like/missed nature.

We’re still working things out logistics wise.
Currently in 1 midway place, tidying an attic room and crafting space in another midway place to live at for a bit longer while we look for an affordable place thats gonna suit our slightly peculiar needs. (Cat safe garden with grass, 2 hobby/craft rooms and a decent kitchen would be nice.)
I dont see that happening in an affordable manner any time soon though tbh =)

@twinturbo I hope you get some chill/friendly people moving in!
And I hope the next people in our old place are total irrational degenerates XD

Im too worn out from everything over the last few weeks, even trying to write this post is taking it out of me haha.

Hopefully going to make another case and get to some painting this week =)

Oh and in lighter news, I went charity shop hopping and picked up a toy to try bending. And a vinyl. Tomita Debussy - Snowflakes are dancing.
Features a bunch of moog stuff. Pretty excited to give it a listen tomorrow and get a taste of 1979. If its crap… nobody tell me =D
I still need to listen to my other vinylsColin Benders - Floaty Things and Supercommuter - Trash world

I just sketched out case number 3 (1U+Kosmo) planning on using it as a speaker unit primarily, and for effects or sequencer.
Also blew my nephew’s mind with some basic table magic. Cups and balls and a coin trick.
I need to relearn Ryan Hiyashi’s coin matrix and melt my nephews brain.

Hopefully going to get case 2 cut tomorrow. =D

Colin uploaded a video today showing him his 3600! HP rack redesigned. Unbelievable, he has more modules than an instrument shop! Colin is a musical genius, if you haven’t already seen it, check out his Kyteman Orchestra videos. Waazaa

The prog rock DJ on our local commercial station used to play it endlessly. He used to pronounce the performer’s name “Tomito” because (in my sister’s words) the DJ was just a little Geordie man and we should all count ourselves lucky he didn’t just say “Tomato.”

You’re in for a treat.

Ahh man. Im well happy/excited now.

I just got it because I saw synthy bits and Moog stuff. It was literally the only decent looking vinyl in the 5 charity shops we ventured. Everything else was tchicovski or the spinners… lots of the spinners lol.

I bought my Tomita records for the same reason back then. He always listed up his equipment, that makes me jealous still.

I was watching one of Colin’s quarantine jams he he was talking about when he first bought modular pieces , how he got frustrated with it and set it aside for a year or so than picked it up again and off he went . I found that quite inspirational that even someone as good as him had a rough start . it just took learning and practicing , like anything I guess.

Yes, I saw that too. It reminds me of my first time with VCV Rack. The first time I got no sound from it at all, I thought it had crashed. So I haven’t touched it for a while. And before trying the second time, I watched at least 5 Omri Cohen videos. Unfortunately my laptop is too weak for that, otherwise I would do a lot more with it. I’ve configured the BeatstepPro so that I can use it with it, it’s a lot of fun. I also use it there as master clock, but not via USB, but with the clock output from the BSP in the input from the audio interface, which is much more stable. Omri has a very good tutorial video on this. Unfortunately my computer gets very, very hot with 10 or more modules (including mixer and multiples) and then just switches off … Intel i5
Omri Cohen is the second musical genius on the Modular

This is precisely why I use my Pi 4 for VCV rack, my 10 year old Dell isn’t exactly up to scratch

I only joined the patreon in recent weeks, kinda wish I’d done it last year, as the community is great.

Pretty much made it through the first three lockdowns thanks to videos from Adam Savage, Colin Benders, ASMR, those hypnotic tool restorations and of course Sam. An eclectic YouTube history

Dived head long into lots of hobbies, been sorting through decades worth of accumulated crap and disposing of it (who knew old crap sold for so much on eBay :joy:). And now thanks to the giant pendulum of hobby attention span, I’ve made a spendy push at building out my eurorack before our second tiny person is born.

It’s been a weirdly interesting 13 months. And heading towards a second pandemic birthday as well.
