Ugh. I once got evicted from a rental house because of a neighbor like that. She lived across the street and liked to sit in her driveway and talk on her phone - but expected privacy doing so. The fact that we were working on our vehicles in our driveway and garage drove her up the wall and she would call the police on us. Who would show up and point out to her that we weren’t doing anything wrong. Finally she quit calling the police and started calling our landlord who got sick of dealing with her and we got the boot
That was not fun. I had just moved cross-country know almost no one in town other than my roommates, and one of them was about to leave town and the other was looking to buy a house. So I had to find a place on my own with 1 month notice and knew no one who was a potential roommate to make it affordable. Oh - and we had a big client back out of a job at the same time which left me financially strapped big time as well. Was not a great welcome to this town!
Thankfully never had much trouble with Neighbours, well apart from the one who smashed the window on my car and stole the handbook. The police only worked out who did it 5 months later when they got a DNA match after some minor thing he had also done… That was 17 years ago and we moved from there in 2007…
Getting a new bed and spending today listening to Murderdolls and switching the back room into a temp bedroom and the bedroom into a tv/music n solder room.
Cant be bothered listening to (thinks of a safe way to say it…) bed testing… and stomping/shouting all the usual crap. so having a switch up.
Going to be a long tiring day, but hopefully full of tea and rest’s lol.
Wish us luck.
Well, the bed frame half turned up… will get the other half of it on monday hopefully. Stuck with the plan and moved the mattress in till it all turns up, The cats are a bit confused. Totally messed up the half organised rooms downstairs. Put that on the worry about later pile…
We’re exhausted today and need to get some energy back asap.
Feeling totally drained but hopefully we will got some peace now.
Im impressed with how much we managed for two sore/ill people XD
Huh, just realized that my last build post here was from July. That’s, what, 8 months ago? (I’ve done some stuff since, but not a lot. Have to do something about that, I think.)
Well, we did it! the bed is up, tv/pc in… still got the house in disarray but we’ll go one room at a time. =)
The neighbour thought it was a great idea to stay up drinking, letting their kid run riot and annoy people from our back street until 4am when our builder comes at 10am… ‘Thankfully?’ the past year has taught us to run off what sleep we can get XD
So… poor them i guess. haha!
Its been pretty quiet today, So we took advantage of that in the morning and rested, then had pancakes for breakfast and actually used downstairs in peace.
Spent time doing something normal together. Oh and I learned some of the main riff to ‘Zibra - Sunscreen’ by ear, So the finger positions are a bit mental at the moment.
Actually had a nice day! I hope everyone else does too!
Make some damn pancakes!
I’ve been on a bit of a break from the internet, so haven’t been around much. Thanks to everyone checking in; I’m doing good.
In short, my wife had to isolate for ten days which put me in charge of the kids and work has been extra busy on top of that. Something had to give. Still building and patching. I’ll ease into posting again.
Edit: almost forgot to say, I received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this morning. In the UK we’re recommended to have the second dose about twelve weeks after the first. It was very well organised and I even got a sticker saying I’d had my jab.
I woke up this morning with a mild ache in my arm. My wife who was vaccinated last month warned me to expect this.
By the way, I suspect I’ve had a healthier winter than ever. I have often picked up a sneeze and a runny nose, but this winter the isolation and distancing seem to be reducing my exposure to viruses in general. Mentally I’m in bits, but physically I’m as fit as a fiddle.
Public Health England say they haven’t detected a single case of flu in the first seven weeks of the year. They test for prevalence of flu every season by examining swabs. Nearly 700,000 swabs tested and not a single positive at the height of the season.
In England there’s been a more concerted effort to vaccinate this season so as to reduce the load on primary care facilities which are already under stress from Covid-19. People my age and older are offered free flu vaccinations anyway, and we always take up the offer. The reductions in workplace exposure and the dispensing and mask wearing, not to mention the children all being off school, must also have had an effect.
