How’s everybody holding up?

We had issues one day down in Brighton, everyones internet (at least on the estate I live on) was down for a while…

I had a bit of a scare the other day, with a temperature of over 100 coming on in about half an hour (got all vague and drifty), and sticking around for another 3 hours (also got a strange short lived redness on the exposed skin) after being outside for 10 minutes in a t-shirt. Now, it seems like my immune system doesn’t like the sun any more.

I think the reports of it’s reach were underestimated all of our sites (covering South Scotland, Cumbria and North Lancs) primary links were down although the handful that had TalkTalk backup were actually failed over ok. Lots of businesses in Carlisle were affected…

Still, if there were no problems there would be no need for people to fix them…

Our president’s son is now suspended for spreading misinformation online about a cure for covid-19 that the FDA says is not a cure. Seeing a lot of “twitter is manipulating the campaign by preventing people from seeing the truth.” and “What about your fake news? Why isnt anyone talking about that?!” etc. This shared video has been seen even more than plandemic.

Ugh, FML.

This made me think of this strip:

Hey now-that’s a stereotypical representation of Devs, isn’t it? I mean I do know a few with the glasses/belly/beard combination, but only a few…

oh yeah I maybe should have added a bit of context: that’s devs and an illustrator that are writing/drawing it.

If something is being pushed hard by charlatans, and many of the Republican voters and politicians either fall for their scam or turn a blind eye to it, that’s not “the left” politicising it. You’ll find no more fervent critics of the fraudulent notion that hydrochloroquine is a panacea than conservatives like Rick Wilson.

It’s not as if there haven’t been numerous competent studies of this drug in that context. A brief search shows there was a new study published in NEJM a couple of days ago. I’d be interested to know which countries are successfully using hydrochloroquine as a treatment for Covid-19.

This is your reminder yall, lets keep this civil (so far it is). This is a forum for sharing bleep bloops, and i dont want this to devolve into anything where people dont feel like they can come here as a retreat from all of this.

I know i made the post that started this line of discussion. I encourage anyone to flag any post, even mine, that crosses a line for them. You can also feel free to DM me about it if you prefer. If you feel at any time you cannot come to me about this, I am sure @fredrik will accept the responsibility if you feel there is a conflict of interest.

I want this forum to stay friendly, if my own statement has introduced any problems rest assured i will address that as well

This thread is bound to have some venting for people, so we need to be understanding of that, but we also should recognize when it can get outta hand. We are all friends here.

i don’t perceive anyone being upset or having issues,

Right, i am only placing that disclaimer so people understand they can come to us if they have any issues with content posted here, and to know who people can go to instead of me should I be the problem.

I’m good, my post was mainly mentioning the weird data fraud involved with that, nothing further intended.

Not to throw gas on the fire, but I bought into the mask thing as a fashion statement and value signaling in a big way, then the other day…
https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/20/politics/donald-trump-mask-tweet/index.html
…suddenly all the fun is taken out of it and I’m left with nothing but a clear conscience and a negative COVID test.

I wear a mask cause i dont want to get others sick. Its that simple.

Things are a bit weird right now. I’m at my daughter’s house dealing with a case of harassment. The harassers came back again tonight and were not deterred by my presence. Being autistic seems to be a crime in their eyes.

My Eldest is autistic and there are people who just can’t deal with different. When at high-school there were bullies we and the school dealt with. Some with talk, some with a fair warning that this is a hate crime and one particularly stubborn pr#ck who I helped walk face first into a closed fire door one parents evening.
If they’re a bother in public call the cops. It is criminal now.
(Just don’t mention the fire door thing cool?)

Low level stuff so far but their impunity is disturbing. They’re involving their own kids in this. The police aren’t taking it very seriously. I’ll push harder until they do.

Your local community support officer?
In Scotland the cops take this very seriously.
Video as much as you can. And take care.

We have lots of video. I want to believe this will make a difference. England isn’t Scotland.

Keep trying. Use the term hate crime rather than antisocial behaviour. Call local radio. Oh and Let me know if you need a hand with a fire door.
