What's everyone working on? (Kosmo Edition)

Got PCBs for Practical Electronics Microsynth, a rather odd synth. It has around 20 slide switches but Indid found, what I hope will work, at Mouser.

Have been working on mynMFOS 32 step sequenzer. Made all the wiring on the panel and will work on the interconnections.

are you adapting these to Kosmo? Both of those seem like they’d be gigantic!

So I’m chewing through a backlog of PCB/Panel sets. I’m not sure how I’m going to prioritize going forward. I just finished up a couple Kassutronics Slope modules and the LMNC VCLFO10 with the intention of doing some Krell patching on the Kosmo. Most likely now that I’ve hit this milestone I’ll move over to some more eurorack builds.

However, I just picked up the Barton Rando Chordo PCB and my intention is to make a custom Kosmo panel for that in the near future.

Is that sort of a joystick? I mean the thing on the left with the loop (or eye). Did you make a custom ‘stick’ ?

I’m working on a simple matrix mixer:

Also going to try out some projects found on the Kosmo wiki.

Are those linear or log pots?

I recently finished the bottom case for what is my increasingly heavy setup:

I was trying to keep the weight down, so I built a relatively sturdy timber frame and clad it in 6mm ply (except the top and bottom which are 12mm).

It’s set up as rack, to house my Yamaha rack mixer and patchbay (and probably various other random odds and ends). I’ve then rigged up two db25 cables coming in from each modular case that connect to the bottom case, which then connect to the patchbay via those db25 to 8 stereo jack cables (and then from the patchbay into to the mixer).

And with it all together, looking increasingly like one of those victorian church organs:

While I was building It though, I got a bit carried away and put in old set of speakers and a stereo preamp I’ve had sitting around for a bit; and while it doesn’t sound amazing, its still pretty cool I reckon.

And did I mention it also lights up? Well, for at least 2 mins after this photo was taken. After which it promptly turned off and now I am in need some new arduinos, which is just typical.

Stunning design. I love the clean art-deco base. All you need now is the organ console from The Abominable Dr Phibes!

I love it when music gear becomes designer furniture. Well done!

I’ve been really tempted to get a couple of the Kassutronics Slopes modules to replace one of my sequencers, which I based off of Moritz Kleins’ 5 step sequencer, that I rarely use. That of course would delay the dedicated percussion section that I’ve been putting off forever. We’ll see what happens : )
