So I’m chewing through a backlog of PCB/Panel sets. I’m not sure how I’m going to prioritize going forward. I just finished up a couple Kassutronics Slope modules and the LMNC VCLFO10 with the intention of doing some Krell patching on the Kosmo. Most likely now that I’ve hit this milestone I’ll move over to some more eurorack builds.
However, I just picked up the Barton Rando Chordo PCB and my intention is to make a custom Kosmo panel for that in the near future.
It’s set up as rack, to house my Yamaha rack mixer and patchbay (and probably various other random odds and ends). I’ve then rigged up two db25 cables coming in from each modular case that connect to the bottom case, which then connect to the patchbay via those db25 to 8 stereo jack cables (and then from the patchbay into to the mixer).
While I was building It though, I got a bit carried away and put in old set of speakers and a stereo preamp I’ve had sitting around for a bit; and while it doesn’t sound amazing, its still pretty cool I reckon.
And did I mention it also lights up? Well, for at least 2 mins after this photo was taken. After which it promptly turned off and now I am in need some new arduinos, which is just typical.
I’ve been really tempted to get a couple of the Kassutronics Slopes modules to replace one of my sequencers, which I based off of Moritz Kleins’ 5 step sequencer, that I rarely use. That of course would delay the dedicated percussion section that I’ve been putting off forever. We’ll see what happens : )
It was a ‘quikshot midi composer’ that I got off eBay, with a mind to getting a bog standard cheap midi keyboard I could pull apart and put into a case:
kept the internals and chucked it all into a big wooden case. Works pretty well, although it’s very loud and clacky, like playing a draw of plastic cutlery at times
Fab! EVA foam sheets come very thin and deal with plastic clacking. Add plasticine or tack under the keys for weight. It’s an ideal size for a keytar mod.
Decided to add some distortion to one of my mixers. I slapped a modified MXR distortion circuit into one of my mixers. I was happy to use some fancy germanium diodes I’ve had sitting in my parts bin forever. It has cv over the distortion using the better vactrol way, ala analog output.
