What are those components ? Gate delay

Hi !

I’m currently trying to build my first DIY gate delay out of this schematic, but I’m stuck. I don’t understand these symbols (highlighted in red). Can you help me ? I feel it might be linked to the IC chip ? But I’m really not sure.

Thanks !

They are just thru holes for panel wiring, as opposed to having the jacks mounted directly on pcb

Weird tho

Thanks ! And what’s the number next to it for? 1 2 3 4…

On their silkscreen on the pcb they probably just wanted numbers to keep track of what is what. But I could be wrong. Do you have a pic of the pcb board this schem was for?

I found this

Yeah they are just the number system for the sets of pin headers (where the wires meet the board. “J” is for junction, btw.

Ok ! Now I understand ! Any pin header would work ?

Can I cut those ? So I have only 2 pins ?

Thanks

If you’re just going to make a stripboard then you don’t need to worry about them and you can pretend like they aren’t even on the schem. If you are making a pcb design from the schem then it depends.

For my PCBs designs I use the headers you linked, and yes you can cut both male and female headers to size

cool ! I’m going for PCB  But if the delivery is too late, I’ll go for stripboard.

If feel like these symbols for junctions make more sense and you don’t need to get crazy with numbering anything.

Almost every design uses 2.54mm pitch pin headers btw

Is this a schematic for the junctions only ? And yes it seems to make more sense !

They’re kind of similar to Kicad’s Conn_01x01_Female and Conn_01x01_Male symbols:
