The Vinyl Thread

Sorry for hijacking this thread with my pipedream, but it called “the vinyl thread”…

Found another DIY project with even more detailed documentation and a build guide:

Repo: GitHub - dn784533/lathe_guide: Guide to constructing the frame and carriage assembly of a vinyl record lathe.
Build guide: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dn784533/lathe_guide/main/lathe_build_instructions.pdf

Maybe now I need a 3D printer…

Go for it! They can be used for all sorts of things. I wholeheartedly recommend the original Ender 3 which I think can be had cheap from Micro Center in the US ( you are in the States, right?).

Going on a tangent I found a project using a permanent marker attached to the print head to mark solder resist on blank FR4 boards for etching. I might have to give it a go.

149$ lathe cutter?! Only 5inch and “lo-fi”, but hey… looks like fun!

Looks like a colorful version of these:

Same thing, rebranded, sold for thrice the original price! They say so almost explicitly in their marketing.

I was shocked it was priced so low, since fans of the TE brand would definitely pay $499 for this
