I may or may not have “invented” it 20+ years ago. The spread would have been out of Chicago so by now I wouldn’t be surprised if it made it to both US coasts.
I bought some boards like these and I love the smell of the phenolic board material with what can only be described as copper leaf for traces. It makes me nostalgic for those old walkie-talkies (what we called kids two way radios) that I used to have. It works fine but it is more brittle than fiberglass.
FUNGUE MOD?
Can we see the other (copper) side?
That’s “Funque Mod” . The copper side looks identical, except it doesn’t have the lines on the silkscreen (which you can just barely make out). When I took French in 8th and 9th grade, I was fascinated by the fact that you can replace a “K” with “QUE” and it sounds the same. In the late nineties, I released a few records on my own “Funque Droppings” label and “Funque” has just stuck somehow.
EDIT: Here’s a closer look. Top side left, bottom side right. You may have to zoom in to see the difference:
Some of them look really old. Or are they?
Well I was thinking “is that really a 741 op amp?” They used to be popular in the seventies.
Shhhh! Don’t mention the 741! The younguns don’t need to know how good we had it.
They are old, especially the ones with the TO-99 layouts, late 70ies i think. i still don’t know what to do with them.
They would make great touch pads. Crackle synths, tiny r2r panels using smd, solar panels, art work, cool panels, patch bays… come on guys, jump in!
Or…
There’s three of them over here
Here’s a closeup:
The phone didn’t exactly do a good job with the text, but it does say UA741 on it.
