Sounds that make your heart warm (Nostalgia Share Thread)

That’s quite charming and reminds me of the LucasArts games like Loom and Monkey Island. I’m almost tempted to see if I can pick up the PS2 version of the game. Would it play on my PS3 console, I wonder?

Im a fan of emulation and this comes to mind… As for how to get a PS2 game… one way i cant talk about/link to ways of getting it off the net. The other is burning the physical disk
Or there’s the option of jailbreaking the PS3 (if its not backwards compatible) for CFW to play PS1, PS2, PSP and others. But i haven’t done this myself, i havent got a PS3 yet, Its on my list of ‘consoles to pwn’ =D

Only a small portion of PS3s can play PS2 games. It definitely has that old LucasArts / Sierra Adventure game humor. Carey Elwes voices the Bard, and the narrator is voiced by Tony Jay. The gameplay is hack n slash top down, so it may or may not be your cup of tea in that respect.

It is easily the best spoofs of RPG tropes ive ever seen, and is genuinely fun and interesting in its own right. Many surprises and funny abound. Music is pretty great, and the “sing along” songs never fail to put a smile on my face. Visuals are for sure dated, and the gameplay takes a backseat to the satire, but it gets a solid recommendation from me.

Its on steam, and on PS4. The collection also has the original games in the bundle.

That sounds interesting. That guy’s supposedly British accent is difficult for me to understand, he just gabbles too fast and chews his words. At least it sounds vaguely like some form of English but honestly it’s hard to distinguish. Bristol or thereabouts? I think he’s talking about this emulator:

I don’t think I need to mention that one needs to use discretion when discussing emulation here. No links to roms or advice where to find them here etc. This is just a psa, I doubt anyone will, but I’m just putting it out there.

Last I checked btw ps2 emulation was not that compatible with most games. Feel free to check the usual compatibility list for whatever game you intend to play.

That emulator does have The Bard’s Tale on its compatibility list, marked as “playable.”

Im very aware of that and dont intend on linking to any dubious rom/iso sites not just because its unlawful, but piracy is the bane of the guys making CFW and the devs get bugged for it all the time by inpatient kiddo’s who arent interested in making consoles run better or easier to use. Like, I love using an ebook app to store pdfs on my PSvita

Not to mention, you dont really know what hides behind that adfly countdown. Could be something from the KaZaa lurgee days XD
Just be happy running the games you own/paid for, backed up, in a better environment (ie running psp games upscaled on pc)

This is my favourite GladOS song. The video appears to be related to a film called Lego Dimensions.

Edit: Wikipedia says it’s a game, not a film. My mistake.

YESSSSS Mellotron!!!

Some synthseizer sounds are just :yum: like finally of PFM’s The World Became The World](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg-ckudBb5Q) (there may be a mellotron in there too) or the solo halfway thru Rajah Khan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ox_hzO6SIAY) by Renaissance (4:25 minutes exactly). Francis Monkman on VCS3.
And the rumble in the beginning of Liwahl by Deyosan, not to mention the clarinet that suddenly sounds like a Moog …https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01YUYcBR4jc)
