Polyend Tracker

Big fan of trackers in general, but this thing looks great! It is neat seeing some hardware tracker love, and i was surprised at this price-point that it was not just a midi controller. Its got some good sampling, wavetable, and granular synthesis. It also records samples into it as well. The screen is pretty freakin big too.

Looks like the projects are 48 instrument, 256 pattern, up to 128 steps per pattern. It’s even compatible with MOD files.

Hehe, I pre-ordered mine from Polyend last week. Hopefully I will actually get it in June on schedule :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh I remember trackers. I introduced my son, then a six-year-old, to basic sound production using a simple 8-bit sampler and Teijo Kinnunen’s Octamed on the Amiga.

I too got my start with an Amiga tracker 1991.

Im not very skilled with trackers atm, but i have to say i love the vertical workflow and all those neat shortcuts that space out step sequencing etc. Laying down notes is never as fast as that.

Though admittedly its also kinda like VI / VIM / EMACS. Its fast if you learn all the shortcuts and stuff, otherwise its impossible lol.

I was a big fan of LSDJ and Nanoloop for quite some time
Love seeing tracker based devices!

Did you get yours in the June release? I’ve been absolutely obsessing over the idea of this, so much so I’m even thinking of selling my MPC to finance it. I was wondering how you find is as a midi sequencer, and is it good for live jamming/looping style improv as well as just planning out tunes?

Alas not, I’m looking at an August delivery. Still looking forward to it mind you, and it’ll give me time to get a decent multi channel MIDI -> CV in my Kosmo rig as Sam has plans to release his between now and then

No worries! Yeah I’m planning on doing the same, waiting for the LMNC midi module, then getting the polyend. See you on the other side!

Looks like they will be shipping in OCT 2020 now. I hope thats the case.

This thing looks great. Particularly for more complex sequences.

I think it’s great that it’s a standalone thing too. Samples, wavetable and fm on board, in addition to a tracker midi controller.

Absolutely. It’s not quite what I wanted in a midi controller (due to limited channel output), but it’s an outstanding machine itself. I’ve heard some pretty wild sounds from just it.

Yeah, I’m still pretty excited about it, but the limited channels on it are a bit of a set back. Even though they’re quite different beasts I’m torn between the tracker and a keystep pro - the tracker would deffo be the kit for the music I usually make (techno/dnb/jungle etc.) but the keystep seems like the most flexible and hands-on approach for linking up the modular and the few other bits I’ve got for jamming and what not. If I can ever get around to shifting my MPC then I can think about it seriously

I own a keystep. Its probably the best seq you can buy for the money, and the usual great arturia build quality. You can even configure it to play up to 4 synth voices in a sorta poly manner.
