My build progress

I think that’s dope as hell , good job!!! I wanna do something like that with mechanical switches for a diy launch pad.

I love this. Makes you feel tiny.

Well, I will be damned. It works!

Well now it makes sense! I love an interface that I can look at and immediately understand what it does and why you’d want that.

sneaky laser printed front panel, had me fooled for a second…

I love the fact I can print in true scale for PCB stuff, its one of those simple thing like burning a CD that should be easy and always work… Sadly after 25 years CD’s can still be hit and miss, but at least they fail in a 52th of the time and having a coffee is not a major cause for concern…

That’s something else on my list  I’ve found you can get 0.49" OLED displays that use four wires and, by coincidence, these key switches I’ve got have four holes in for hooking up RGB LEDs. I reckon that might have to be an experiment one day!

Yeah, that’s 1/16" plywood with paper glued on the front… just a temporary measure until I get the real front panel. (Which I nearly ordered a couple days ago and then decided to wait until the PCBs came in… which was an excellent decision as it turned out!)

As mentioned yesterday, I’ve got a black base to the keyboard now. I made a mistake and had a lip either side of the back panel that I had to cut and file off - next time I’ll make the effort to get on with Fusion 360 instead of deciding to wing it all on Tinkercad.

The two 10mm holes on the back are for whatever I decide to use - decided to be flexible because I’m really not working from any plans at all for this! I did, however, design in recesses on the bottom for sticky rubber feet to go in…

When did you get your VCA’s?

I would say that he posted the image 9 days ago: he must have received the PCB in the morning of the 10 or at worst the day before

What’s the intention for the display… The 4-wire displays are I2C and usualy have a single address on the realy small ones.

Yeah, I was thinking of something like one of these… https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-tca9548a-1-to-8-i2c-multiplexer-breakout

I only want to do it because I saw an Optimus keyboard years ago and became a little bit obsessed

Done, for now (except for some flux cleaning). I find building multiple copies a bit therapeutic; the second one is always easier, and the third one easier than the second, etc, which feels like progress. This time I ended up with 4× small mikrophonie amplifiers.

Now back to the more serious yellow things

EDIT: Also a shoutout to @analogoutput who called my attention to the Mikrophonie, via his Kosmo-compatible Mikrokosmos design. If you do Kosmo, go get one of those.

Expression pedal interface. I’ll be fancying up the front panel later. I decided Molex is too tall for this application but it can be lived with. Anyway, now I can make Molex connectors.

Could you not just move it all to one right angle molex on the lower edge of the panel?
