Very nice!!! I love the clean and green look!!!
Iāve been waiting for SynthCube to get the MicroBus back in stock here in the US. I may just need to buy them direct. I donāt feel like SynthCube ever restocks anything.

Frquency Centralās site should still be shipping though maybe?
I wouldnāt be too hard on them. The supply chain for about everything is really hit-and-miss right now. They may not be getting the MicroBus directly from FC and FC may have a waiting list for resellers. If youāre getting antsy and have an order in it might be worth it to cancel and start shopping around, though.
I understand the supply chain right now being interrupted. I was referring more to the items they have been out of since last year that I was looking for.
you can find FC stuff on eBay and amazon , yeah not my first choice either .
Do you have a powerbus that you like better?
I meant that ebay , amazon not being first choices . would rather support the original manufacturer first . the FC boards are great I have 4 total 2 of the ones pictured above and 2 of the route masters . I also have a few of the MFOS [ Ray Wilson ] boards those are nice too. they allow for large filter caps and large heat sinks on the regulators .
I built the hi hat version of the easy noise drum discussed here:
You can hear it, albeit slightly effected, in this video I just posted over on the music share thread:
I added CV via vactrol to the decay.
EDIT: Hereās my stripboard layout:
Got it. I understand now.
At least the ebay store is the original manufacturer: frequencycentral on eBay
Itās cheaper ordering off FCās website thoughā¦ I donāt see any advantage to doing it from eBay.
Disclaimer: Iām not a synth purist in any way. As much as I love a deep, rumbling analogue sound Iām happy to just make noises for my own amusement. Hereās what my attention is on at the moment.
Itās a self-built Groovesizer TB2 gradually getting created as I get the time. Hope to get the MIDI in/out sorted next, and once Iām happy with that Iāll rebuild the whole thing with a working LCD, better pots and computer keyboard switches instead of the ones Iāve got on this board which, while lovely and look the part, are horrible to use in this manner (the actuation force is WAY too high). Eventually a couple of these will make their way into my wooden IKEA crate of noise.
TB2 is an open source 12-bit digital synth based on the Arduino Due (which helpfully has a proper built in DAC as well as plenty of horsepower). I get on with code better than hardware so bit by bit Iāve been gradually modifying the firmware to make it more āmeā.
Edit - https://groovesizer.com/tb2/ if anybody is interested!
Will you be posting your modifications to github or another public repository?
You can get a 12BIT I2C DAC for Ā£3, thatās on my current project list for palyign with bitsā¦ I did look at a Due for something very briefly but too Ā£Ā£Ā£Ā£
Iām not sure my modifications would make sense for anyone else but if they do, I will Nothing is related to the synth engine itself, though. One is to support the RGB backlit LCD module Iāve got, so that the clock/tempo flash can be pushed to that; another is to use a big VFD from a 1999 cash register instead of the LCD, because it looks great
Yeah, Iāve got a couple of them knocking around the place. If I were building my own thing instead of hacking up an existing project Iād consider using one of them
The Due clones Iāve got from AliExpress have come in at about Ā£9 a pop so doesnāt break the bank!
Those sound like great builds. Controlling exotic hardware is a frequent theme of Samās work so I do encourage you, if you can spare the time, to push your work to github alongside a brief description of any hardware requirements.
Iāll see how it all goes! Incidentally, this is the VFDā¦
Iāve modded it to take a TTL serial connection instead of the RS232-levels it required as stock and itāll take a connection up to 38400bps which is good enough for what I need. It should show a 16 step sequence nice and clearly for my old eyes.
I have something similar from an EPOS till. not looked at it too much yet buy I have played with a couple of VCR VFDās
