I started (finally) building the new case today. Got most of the wood cut and rail holes drilled, then paused to wait for delivery of the last wood pieces which UPS said would be here probably by 5:15 and definitely by 9:00. It’s now 9:15. On a Saturday.
Meanwhile a thunderstorm came through here, including one lightning strike apparently within about 150 meters of here. And now the power’s off in half the garage. It’s the half containing the workbench and the half protected by a GFCI outlet which tripped off and now will not reset. I think it’s likely the outlet itself was damaged by the surge, although maybe there’s another scenario. Anyway, I can run power tools off an extension cord from the outlet that works, but the lights are off until the problem’s fixed.
Got a feeling tomorrow will not be devoted to finishing up a synth case.
Fiat lux! I disconnected the downstream from the GFCI and it stayed on. Then I reconnected the downstream to the GFCI and it stayed on. Shrug. I got light, I got power, I still got no UPS delivery but hey. Not bad for before 8:30 am.
Note to self: Next time, instead of running the extension cord to the garage door opener and leaving it overnight, run it to the chest freezer.
Ah, don’t get me caught up in another pointless rant about units. BTU stands for British Thermal Unit. Here in Britain we stopped using the term decades ago. It’s all kilojoules or kilowatt-hours now.
lack of build progress sums me up to a T right now.
I have been so obsessed with these crazy noise circuits, i have been neglecting my modular stuffs lol.
There is so much I want to do, but so little monies currently.
Your work on Lil Sidrassi and the like is very educational. I’d previously only read about these designs, but you posted many recordings and other information about them. Thank you.
spend 2 days cleaning up the attic of our barn to setup that binaural beat experiment, found that 3 out of 10 active speakers are broken, (need 8 ) at least there is progress on my main project, the large Steampunk Conservatory.
