My "548" S&H + Noise module

I’m on holiday, which means soldering my latest module designs.

Here’s my version of Moritz Klein’s S&H + Noise module in Kosmo format, with some modding:

  • Switch to toggle the internal clock on and off
  • Manual trigger button (which also stops the internal or external clock if kept pressed down)
  • Internal clock made available as an output jack
  • Higher gain for the Blue Noise output (on par with white and pink levels)
  • Increased internal clock frequency range
  • Increased slew rate range

To my initial disappointment, the Blue noise output was dead.
At first I though I used some wrong resistor value, but luckily I didn’t have to rework any solder to solve that. See pictures. :stuck_out_tongue:

The project is available in my GitHub: GitHub - DeMarco/DMH-S-H-Noise

Plugging DIPs became so much less traumatic for me after I got this https://www.jameco.com/z/ICS-01-R-Jameco-Benchpro-IC-Pin-Straightener-for-0-300-and-0-600-Wide-ICs_99363.html

If you ended up with any spare boards I’m interested

That looks like something I should acquire!

Yep, I got even two sets to spare. Where shall I ship them to?

I’ll pm you

Curious what the second 2x5 header is for

I plan to design a long PCB that goes inside the rack to do normaling. The objective is to have a semi-modular synth when all my planned modules are ready. The extra headers on each of my modules just expose the inputs and outpus on the back, making them ready for connection with the “normaling” PCB in the future.

This reminds me of the Shmøergh Moduleur semi-modular.

Sounds very cool.

Oh I’ve seen this recently. Looks really cool.

In mine I also plan to find a way to switch the “semimodularity” on and off somehow. I want the convenience of a tweakable bread-and-butter monosynth (with stereo signal path, mind you  ) but also the hability to start from a blank slate for more crazy patches.

You should be able to do that by using switched jacks, similar to how patch bays and conventional semi-modulars work.

Just plug in a cable to disable the normalling.
