MFOS Ring Modulator

Hi all,

Planning on building the Music From Outer Space Ring Modulator.

First things first the website with 2 schematics

If i look at the schematics, i see 2 independent circuits right? The 2nd schematic is a state var filter with sine output that connects to a switch on the first schematic. Correct?

Since i have build the MFOS state var filter already there is no need to build the 2nd schematic. I can use my filter in self oscillation mode and connect the sine output to the ring modulator.

Did someone build this?

I don’t see why not, but it looks like Ray tweaked the sine oscillator for as little distortion as he could get. Might be worthwhile to include, but the ring mod will be functional without it.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I might build the whole thing with the filter section.

the ad633 ic that the MFOS ringmod uses is an expensive little bugger , luckily it only takes 1 .

I’ve built one of these - haven’t actually used it all that much but I remember the build process being pretty straightforward and the result being pretty useable
