I think they’re mighty fine and you should tackle moar designs
And start sellin panels, pots, and parts.
Call it Popfliers Panels, Pots, & Parts.

Did you print the circuits too? Or just faceplates
I just did the panels. If I had it my way I would add in some SMD LED’s to the circuit board so that I could backlight some of the icons on the panels, but I am not skilled enough with circuits to know how to modify the PCB.
There exists SMD LEDs which are designed to be mounted on the back of the PCBs and shine thru the PCB.
You can mount them on the back of the panel and just run two wires to the power connector.
You can use SMD resistors on the back too.
What about connecting the LEDs and series resistor to the power supply and just glueing them in place with some hot glue (there is no need to change the PCB for that, is there) ? Given that today’s LED can light a complete room, surely that will shine through a PCB as long as there is no copper layer!
That would probably work for some, but if I was wanting to sell these then ideally I would want to create a panel / pcb set that the masses could purchase and easily put together that already has the LED and trace added in. Depending on the MI module there should be enough room. I just don’t know how to do that.
I know the first one I would start with would be Warps as I think it would be the easiest but most interesting panel second to Plaits. I might go ahead and modify the panel that I have already designed, set it up to have the backlit LEDs, and experiment a bit.
I found again the link I didn’t find yesterday (way too many bookmarks…) about backlit panels.
I saw this tutorial several months ago. It’s not quite what I’m after for the MI modules. Many of the modules have bi-color or RGB LED’s that will change depending on what mode you are in or which parameters you select. I would like to keep that functionality so I would need to integrate the LED’s into the PCB instead of the panel.
Ok, that would require more wires… ![]()
Your post made me think it is just for esthetics :
Depending on the number of LEDs that’s still doable.
Put the LEDs on the panel, run traces to a SMD pin connector.
On the main PCB, solder a wire harness in place of the LEDs, with a connector matching the one on the panel. Don’t mix up the wires ![]()
Sure if you have 20 wires to install this way it will get messy pretty fast.
But for 2 or 3 LEDs it should be doable with “production” quality.
Been a good day for the ole postal haul today. Got my JLCPCB order through of a small run of those awesome Transistor Ladder Filters, a big ass bag of B100k pots from Thonk (finally they were back in stock, they have been delaying me for months), some knobs, some matched transistor pairs (for the filters), my PT2399’s for my delay (now I have the pots to actually build it), some little knobs for my Mixer (again, now I have the pots to build it), some wargaming stuff (sometimes I just want to paint minis) that was super cheap on offer, and that little keyring the JLC threw into my order box!
Not pictured is a new wall wart for my old Numark N4 digital DJ’ing setup, which also happens to be a class compliant USB Audio interface with 4 stereo line/mic inputs, so I might actually get to record something…
JLCPCB order delivering in series for those wonderful Transistor Ladder Filter modules is the theme for today.
The delivery of Minnie Mouse fuzzy socks was not pictured.

That fallout stuff looks like a good painting sesh’. I might look into the game. I used to paint a bunch of warhammer, never got into playing it tho. Dark eldar were my fave to paint although I did a ‘great’ job on some angel things. Primered white, turquoise and aqua green inked wings, purple clothes.
Not knowing the lore; my themes would have likely been laughed off the table =D
Id better get a thonk order in before they go out of stock again lol need some for the vco =)
Its tempting to do another painting stream. I have a LOT of grey mini’s that need some love.
Yeah, I was considering buying some GW minis at first until I saw how much they are charging for them at the minute. I got the fallout stuff in a sale so it was super cheap in comparison. I used to build/paint/play a lot of their games (WFB, 40k, Batllefleet Gothic, Bloodbowl, Necromunda to name just the ones that are still on my games shelves) but their new pricing is a joke. After all I have synths to build as well, but sometimes I need something to concentrate on that isn’t just soldering.
If you are interested in picking up some nice mini’s to paint then the Fallout ones are a good option, they are in a pretty big scale of 32mm (so the same as Inquisitor used to be if you remember that) so a standard height human is actually about the height of a current 40k terminator, and the mini’s are all resin casts (apart from the starter set which are in what GW called ‘Finecast’… so cast PVC) and they look awesome. They also have a power armour character (Frank Horrigan if you are familiar witht the lore) coming out in late Nov/early Dec that looks bigger than a Space Marine Dreadnaught, and at about half the price so that’ll be fun to build once this lot’s done. The game itself is also pretty easy to play. I taught my partner in about half an hour last night after going through the rules, and she seemed to enjoy it, which is a good indicator of a fun system. Plus there is a new RPG system expansion for it, so if you have a group of friends who want to play actual Fallout on a tabletop then you totally can now.
There’s this little circuit board with a BNC plug on it and 2x 3.5mm sockets. “Extra” for modular systems. I think it costs around 15 €. But I can’t come up with the name. Maybe you will find it?!?
A few alternatives from China :
Make your owns, cut a patch cord in the middle, bingo, two wires for the scope :
Have a 1/4"jack to RCA wire lying around ?
Or add these :
Or bananas ?
Or screw anything into these :
Alligators anyone ?
McGyver’s kit (you probably got the equivalent with the scope…):
Unfortunately nothing for jacks…
Or get a BNC cable, cut it in half, and mount 1/4" plugs. (That’s a plan.)
It depends on what you have lying around.
I don’t know why, but I’m quite sure you have patch cords with the required jacks lying around
Thats something i hadnt considered, us nerds are considered unsocial but i guess thats how much GW(and similar) relies on proper tabletop events. i guess they have to find a markup somewhere tho.
Agreed, i at least need to make my case and get this 120GBP of components and cables ordered, before restocking on paint primer an mini’s XD ive still got plenty of brushes to hack down to 1 or 2 bristles haha.
There’s definitely enough character groups, im into being the commander of a bunch of bots myself.
Iooked up Frank Horrigan, the name sounded familiar. I haven’t played FO2 but i watched Yogscast Sips play through it im sure? (I just checked his YT… and nope, i apparently didn’t [he hasnt done an LP of it] lol)
Gonna see if i can find a good group on YT having a playthrough it now =)
