Not a haul that’d normally be worth posting here, but,

Received my Aliexpress purchase from two weeks ago, and they sent the wrong colors. There’s no yellow button. Additionally, two of the buttons are the wrong type (Seimitsu clicky-type, when I bought Sanwa reproductions, which have a soft and linear hair trigger actuation). But they sent me one more button than I ordered (either by mistake or to make up for lacking stocks, no idea)

Always like that with Ali. What am I gonna do? Waste 20 minutes on a dispute for €0.76 worth of goods? When a vendor does this, it’s not about the money wasted, it’s about the time wasted planning a build.

Can’t blame “Ali” it’s not their fault…

I had some similar arcade switches, ones without micro switches, they were utter garbage and 95% failed to switch after a few opperations,

It is, absolutely, structurally, their fault for setting up the incentives like that. You need to factor in 10% of your purchases having issues. Still a good deal if you don’t need them fast.

I’d never trust their arcade repros for actual gaming, but real Sanwas would cost me 4x that

They are the best 12-bit samplers of all. I have a 110 VAC model now! If any friend needs a 220 VAC model PM me because I have to let it go! These are warmth generators and even people who use DAW’s swear by warming up samples on them. I plan to warm up my samples to play back on a 16-bit hi-fi sampler.

Latest Make magazine arrived today.
Judging by the projects listed i suspect @lookmumnocomputer is moonlighting as commissioning editor.
Great stuff including swapping out the pots in an APC with fruit.
Kosmo fruit salad module?

Best to all

Somehow, they thought it was a good idea to individually package 50 mini jacks.

(Also a buncha SMD leds, chips that i don’t even remember buying but absolutely do need for something, Arduinoes, and a custom PCB that takes big jacks to expose as pin headers)

My ability to feign ignorance when a “cheap tech doodad,” aliexpress parcel arrives is now so well practiced i forget most purchases and projects.
Still, there’s the hoard, my hoard of stuff, growing; so I’m winning right?

Not exactly a “Mail Day” but… my neighbor is moving to a different continent and he was all on his own to move everything by himself, so i offered to help him move furniture as a nice neighbor thing, and it turns out he has some synth gear and he just gave me this Novation Ultra Nova!!! Really looking forward to trying this thing out tomorrow!

Today in the mail… i accepted that my eyes are getting old and that the days of reading chip designations by squinting and crimping connectors with needlenose pliers and my bare eyes are behind me.

I believe the correct words on finding one of these for under £1 is as follows…

MWAA-HA-HAAAAAAAA!!!

Plasma, like lasers, rockets, black powder and thermite, bring out the inner supervillan in me.

Any ideas? I wonder if it cold be a controller as opposed to an output? Light reverb? …
