New rails! Bye bye wooden rails, I’m going proper aluminium on my next cases. I got these directly from Gie-tec, 12x 80cm, €130 for the lot, incl. taxes and shipping. A little over €10 a piece, actually pleasantly surprised with the price tag.

Ah nice. Are you in the discord server? There’s folks in there looking for spare boards.

I’m forum only. I’ll post spares in the BST-thread when i have decided how to continue with the batch.

Tom Cruise can go back to climbing El Capitan and dangling in front of computer keyboards in a wire harness. Turns out bass cabinets don’t really go that low. I would have to build my own high pass filter too, or buy one to handle the crossover.

Somebody got a portable sound recorder the other day. I took a look at the devices available in this field, and was impressed by the quality and the low prices. So I decided to order one for myself. This model handles both PCM (raw WAV files) and MP3. You can run it from alkaline batteries, one of those portable USB chargers, or external mains. It also has a camera tripod mounting bracket.

Has anybody used these prototyping boards by Siam Modular? I got them on eBay from a UK source that turned out to be 20 miles away.

Some Eurorack guy’s gonna complain about the width and claim they can get it down to 2 HP by eliminating redundant pads.

They weren’t exactly cheap, at £12.19 postage included for 3, but I decided to get them as a reminder to actually do something with all those synth components.

They’re okay. I’ll use them to try out my ideas about banana plugs. I have at least 10 3340 chips sitting unused. Can’t remember for sure, but I think they’re the AS3340 “reimagined” versions. As for other kit, I think I have the makings of a complete analogue voice.

It would be great to have Kosmo-proportioned versions of these boards. My target panel form factor is A5 (an ISO 216 paper size, 210mm x 148mm) which is approximately Kosmo-sized but slightly taller and much wider than the basic Kosmo 100mm. One cool thing about these ISO sizes is that they tessellate exactly. So two A5 panels laid side by side in portrait orientation are exactly the same size and shape as one A4 panel in landscape orientation. You can easily buy various materials (including plywood and acrylic, even aluminium) in ISO paper sizes. Obviously a 200mm x 100mm Kosmo board with pots and jacks mounted would fit comfortably behind an A5 front panel.

So what’s stopping you? I’ve had some smaller proto boards, with power header and footprints for caps and diodes but no jacks or switches (or 5 V or gate or CV), fabbed, and have used them for a couple modules. Thought about a version with jacks footprints but I haven’t come up with a design I liked well enough.
