Mail Day Thread

the best paths aren’t always the straight ones …

Does anybody know what this type of connector is called? I’m looking for a contra and have no idea what to look for. The metal thing it is connected to is a display.

It’s Tayda day:

Numerically it’s mostly capacitors, and monetarily it’s mostly slide pots, but the reason I placed the order was for two of the 6¢ trimmers.

It’s also JLCPCB day:

The panels are my first attempt at aluminum. I’d do them differently now that I know I don’t need to constrain myself to NPTH, but I can work with these.

Oddly familiar

Sweet panels, very clean!

I am totally ecstatic
Today I found a cheap Beringer Mixer in ebay and drove to the vendor. During the purchase I talked with him about synth etc. He told me he had some more old stuff, most not working, and asked if I were interested in some of the things. So I bought this 35 year old hybrid synth for nearly nothing:

The problem with this nice synth was that the display was flickering and it did not generate any sound. At home I opened the case and found a dead battery cr2032. After replacing everything was fine.
This was one of the best buys I’ve ever did

by the way: the mixer also is nearly as new and works fine.

Thonk day for me.

A spring reverb with a Music Thing Modular DIY kit, some longer Eurorack patch leads, since moving to a dual format case I seem to need more, A few AS ic’s, and after a quick read of the SSI2130 datasheet, and seeing lot of potential, 3 of these in thru hole format although my design it little more than dreams and it may be a couple of week before I get breadboard them. Oh and a couple of alpha pots.

Hell yeah. Spring reverb and SSI2130 are both on my TODO list as well. Then I can stop. For a bit.

I’m really surprised that the 2130 isn’t more popular, but I think it’s because nobody has put together a “full” schematic yet - at least that I’ve found - which combines all of the different examples from the datasheet, and the thing is too expensive for me to want to fuck around with on the breadboard for fear of fatthumbing something and cooking it. Very excited to see what you come up with, hope you can share your results.

On the 4th of August 2020 I invested some money in a kickstarter project, called TheoryBoard, which was to deliver a midi controller within a few months. Little did I know that it would take a bit more than a year to arrive in the post.

On the 3rd of August 2021 I got a message that the perk had been posted to me.

Today it finally arrived, on the 27th of August, 388 days after investing in it, and doesn’t it look groovy?

Night fever, night fever …

Sad thing is, after the Kickstarter it’s going to be more. I suspect this thing will be like the ksp as well and rise past msrp once buzz around it gets higher.

Got some blank aluminium panels produced by JLC. Curious to see how the soldermask will hold up with drilling, might have to repaint them.
