Yes, still true. I need some pots I can only find at Thonk or Mouser, and Thonk’s out of stock, and I hate ordering from Mouser for just a couple of parts… but I probably will anyway after I decide I can’t wait and then the next day I’ll think of something else I need from them.
I was getting toward putting in 3 or 4 tayda orders a week so i’ve been trying to turn a new leaf and just keep a spreadsheet of parts to order on Fridays.
A while back I was getting into a pattern where I said “ok, need these from Tayda but not urgent, I’ll order them with cheap slow shipping” and before they arrived I’d say “oh no, need these from Tayda ASAP, I’ll order them with expensive fast shipping” and the second order would arrive before the first. Cheap shipping not so cheap after all.
Yep. Exact the same. The nice thing about 1x week is I can just get the fast shipping every time.
Got my box of joy today - thank you @popflier !!!
Wow, that took forever!!! Glad it got to you ok
Dammit, I could have sworn I found suitable pots at Mouser, but did I save the link? I did not, and now there’s no sign of them. Maybe I dreamed it. I can get something almost suitable but with D shaft… or for almost exactly the same price I can get what I want from Pusherman.
If I’d used shorter slide pots I’d’ve had room for 16 mm rotary pots at maybe a third the price from Tayda. Oh well.
Some goodies from @CTorp PLL Waveshaper, Cascading Converter, 1U whips, and @telec16 ‘s crazy ass modules.
This “little” baby arrived at my sister’s yesterday. And tomorrow I’ll get it. It’s a Casio CZ5000 from 1984 !!! I got it as a gift including Case and I’m looking forward to it like a little kid.
Arrived at my sister’s on Saturday and at my place today. Casio CZ5000 from 1984. I have never seen such a large and heavy “keyboard”. Without the case it weighs just under 12kg. Now I’m turning it on for the first time, I’m very excited. Oh yes, I got the good piece as a present, which makes me all the more happy.
Here I put my Roland A49 Midi Keyboard on top to compare the size. It’s just HUGE!
Pasting the model number into Google and clicking around a bit brought me to a page with a lot of CZ information, and a photo of a COSMO SYNTHESIZER:
(the COSMO on that photo was built for Tomita, who appeared in this thread yesterday. Small world, great minds think alike, etc).
Not exactly mail, but ‘new to me’ day.
Picked up a TR-505 off my gfs dad today, havent had a go yet, need to make a 9v psu for it. Looks fun from the pdf.
Are you doing the SMD yourself, or are you getting these made at the factory? I’d love to know more about it either way.
On EuRolz - yeah - I did all that by hand - but these last 2 are by a maker known as Ieaskul F. Mobenthey (which is a side company of Peter’s from ciat-lonbarde)
Those knobs look like liquorice.
