Niiiiice how much for 20 of each, posted to the uk? I havent checked the usual places online but still… look at em! =D
If you’re in the UK I definitely think you should check eBay. You can filter results by location UK and, with a pretty short delivery time given the season, find quite competitive deals. This applies especially for bulk purchases. You’ll probably have to snip the lugs off, though.
Having said that I congratulate @popflier on filling a clear niche in the North American market.
Reminds me of the twelve-stringed instrument Iain Banks invented for his final Culture novel, The Hydrogen Sonata. Its formal name is the Antagonistic Undecagonstring. Its owner, who didn’t ask for it to be made, spends most of the novel in the vain hope that her death defying adventures (which she definitely didn’t ask for) have finally separated her and the accursed instrument.
[Correction: obviously I meant eleven-stringed. In fact as described the instrument also has numerous drone strings. The hero, Vyr Cossont, has her body surgically altered, giving her a second pair of arms, to enable her to play it reasonably competently.]
Banks had fairly traditionalist views of music and the scorn shown towards the avant garde piece in the title reflected those views. In fact it turns out to have been a satirical work that was taken seriously by the musical establishment. After his terminal diagnosis Banks devoted some of his remaining time to musical composition. I don’t think this material is likely to be published.
From DigiKey I got…
… the two (2) SMD chips I ordered.
(Yes, that’s a 9" x 9" x 2" (23 cm x 23 cm x 5 cm) box.)
It’s annoying, i also recently had had a similar sized box with a single electrolytic cap inside because a previous order was only partially fulfilled or something haha.
I also don’t like mouser or digikeys fancy bags. Just give me those cheapo pink tayda bags!
I just got my eurorack-compatible power boards! … And as soon as i opened the package I noticed i forgot about a crucial thing…
The screw holes
Those sticky command strips work for me on my workbench, keeping it close but adjustable.
I say double sided tape!
Funny, just last night I was thinking “I should make a passive multiple - should be quick and easy” and then today these show up in the mail:
Forgot I had ordered the multiple board from @CTorp
Need to order the IC for the sequential switch still…knew there was something I was forgetting to order!
For me, sequential switches were the kind of thing I only very gradually realized is essential. @CTorp’s is great!
They are super handy. I just built a second
Nice bits from @analogoutput and @CTorp.
Shipping to the UK isn’t really worth it for you in the long run as you can find them cheaper in the UK vs paying for the pots and a higher shipping cost from me. I just did a shipment to Australia for a friend and it cost about $29 US.
That is what a 3D printer is for, so that you can print clamps with a mounting hole in them to fasten boards.
Ooooh true!
Im not used to having such a powerful tool yet haha
What are you searching on ebay, I have never found them cheap?
Rob
Two ali express orders: 5 Arduinos, a bunch of assorted size knobs, the sound level indicator circuits, Red/blue LED’s. Also an ebay order with a whole ton of 2n2904’s for the clock divider. I might put some of them and the LED’s on the buy/sell thread. I might not need quite so many!
I just search on something like b100k potentiometer and filter for UK location. One promising item on offer is listed as “10X100K Ohm Linear Taper Rotary Potentiometer Panel Pot B100K 15mm 3Pin WH148 F4”, £5.19 including tax, posting free, estimated delivery (quoted today, 6th December) 15 December. That works out at a little over 50p per pot.
And remember, if you don’t like the look of them, there’s a YouTube video for that.
Metal can 2N2904 ?
Shouldn’t that be 2N3904 ?
