Ksoloti Gills thing made

Anyone got one of these devices?

I made this kit the other day, accidentally ripped a track off the board while undoing a mistake and had to do a nasty bodge to get everything working again… that aside, it worked second power up.

Have been making my first patches using the KSO app, got the display working + knobs to control things. Didn’t get on with VM, but this one clicked…

Not been in a good place before now, but am feeling better now.

Hey man - good to have you back here.

I’ve just spent my birthday money on a Ksoloti Core - I wanted an Axoloti but when they last stopped being unobtainable I had no way of paying for one, and when I did we had all the nonsense that was going on in 2020 and 2021 which basically snuffed it out.

Anyway, thanks to it all being open source I’m going to be using bits of the Gills and Big Genes schematic to make something fun (hopefully)!

Thank you, am trying to do more building / soldering stuff again.

Lots of things got affected by those times… The Ksoloti core just seemed like a really good idea, the open source thing is so good. What ever you end up making out of yours, do post here.

+1 for a Kosmo Big Genes project! Would love to see that, but a little bit too complex for my knowledge atm…

Little bit of a cross-post here, because I’ve put this on the Ksoloti Discourse as well…

Obviously you don’t need this with a Gills or Big Genes, but I wanted to protect the board a bit (especially in the disaster area of this room) so I made a case I can use until I work out what I’m making with it. At the bottom is a 3.5mm stereo jack on each side, because I know that they’re always going to be used. Adding the top protection was Mr Ksoloti’s idea.

I’ll be releasing the files for this once I’ve made some final tweaks, out of the open source goodness of my heart

I’ve been playing with PureData for quite a while (actually PlugData because it doesn’t look like it’s running on an Atari ST) and the Ksoloti patcher feels almost second nature as a result. A monophonic sine synth in under a minute? No problem.
