Hello every! I am just stopping in to say hello. I just joined up on LMNC pateron and Sam suggested I come check this out.

My son and I just completed the big button project but it is not working yet. Not sure where we went wrong but I started checking everything yesterday and hopefully get it all sorted out. I have built several eurorack kits before but this is my first DIY style project. I might be looking for some help while I troubleshot this bigbutton. Look forward to chatting with everyone!!!

Welcome! There’s an open big button thread here which covers some issues:

(if what’s there doesn’t help, feel free to add your observations there, and odds are someone can point you in the right direction).

Thank you for that. I will check into it for info on the project.

Heyo,
Making music on weekends or after a stressful day as a means of meditation and it’s working really well for me.
I’ve been looking for ways to get into DIY-synths for quite a while now and I am just so glad to have found this place! Really looking forward to the tinkering and building and most importantly the music-making.
Cheers

Hi,

My name is Stefan, and I live in the Netherlands. I have no prior experience with synthesizers or anything like it, but I have been following Look Mum No Computer for quite some time; I really dig his energy and setup! As I love building stuff, in February I decided to order my first LMNC Kosmo module, the VCO. Even though I am still looking for the last components to finalise the VCO, several weeks ago I already ordered some more modules, as I really enjoy building these!!! I am looking forward to finishing my first modules, and producing my first sounds!

Hello. Mark here. I heard about LMNC from browsing you-tube during my 6 months in hospital (heart problems - way before Covid) and enjoyed the live streams. I still do

I’m a C++ programmer, and have been for 20+ years (and hopefully continue to be). I used to live in Newbury, where I worked for the same company for 18 years, but changed jobs after my illness (it gave me time to think - what the hell am I still doing here?) and now reside in Leatherhead.

Any coding problems? Give me a shout. Although, if its python then ask someone else first (not a fan)

As my profile says - I’m more into the music side than the electronics - but I do appreciate the work and like to follow the progress of the various (sometimes insane) projects.

My music interests range from Dimmu Borgir to Nine Inch Nails to Roysopp and Enigma, and everything in between - specifically anything metal & electronic.

I used to compose my own stuff using a freeware program called Buzz - it’s been about for a long time - but I had to stop due to work, illness and just lack of time. The majority of my not-crap stuff is on my website (check my profile).

My website is pretty crap - just lack of time to make it betterer.

So… hello.

HeHOO I’m jwotto (Jan-Willem Otto).

Without the lockdown I’m a freelance (electronic) music teacher and maker educator in the Netherlands! My hobby is building weird musical instruments! Every time I watch a LMNC video’s my girlfriend shouts “are you watching those nerd video’s again”, I’m a proud nerd! haha

LMNC inspired me to do some video’s of my own projects. I just did discovered this forum and did my first forum post about how I made a Nintendo zapper musical instrument where you can aim for different notes  hope you peoples like it.

OOOh and I’m also a creative Dyslexxic writer with a lot of happy accidents

Mike in Texas here…

I am pretty sure I found LMNC with the Furby Organ…

I work in a highly technical field that takes me around the world…but not programming or manufacturing related, nor am I a musician… So I have very little experience in electronics circuitry or computers…other than what I do for fun…

…So I have a Behringer Neutron, a Stratocaster, Roland TD-12 drum set, A Yamaha DX7 that I got cheap and repaired, Casio DG-10 (that I just modified to be a DG-20) electronic guitar, and I am building a synth based on the Arduino Teensy (I am attempting to copy smarter people’s work and modify it to my needs) TSynth. The last two go together…The DG-10 can either MIDI out all the strings to CH1 or each individual string to the first 6 MIDI channels. I am building the Tsynth to be a 6 note polyphonic synth with 4 stacked synth modules (I don’t know if it will work that way…but it seems others have done similar things). The Neutron is only monophonic…or at best duophonic. If I was hard up I guess I could drive the DX7 with it…but I want the modular synth sound.

BTW I love playing with the Neutron…it is so easy to get some descent sounds out of it…and with some research you can build some fancy sounds…

It is youtube channels like this that allow me the freedom to go ahead and try these things and enjoy the process of making sounds and sometimes music…if for nothing else, just a release from the day to day activities

But especially LMNC because he is just doing it and with no fear of failure…and that is really motivating!

Mike.

Here is my blog on the project…If you can handle a schematic and some soldering, it isn’t too hard of a job… Basically most of the circuitry is there, you have to add a number of jumpers and a few capacitors/resistors…modify a couple of circuit board traces. Now for mine I did the entire conversion…but the midi mod would be less involved. https://bubbazanetti.blogspot.com/2020/01/casio-dg-10-modified-into-dg-20.html

I just looked at the blog again…I have quite a few more photos and schematics than that…it was just kind of an overview…If you decide you want to attempt the midi portion…I can post some more to the blog.

Hello everyone, I’ve been making noises with a lot of different things for about 15 years. I am an EMT working on my medic and I live and travel in a bus I’ve converted. Mostly played with guitars and drums. However I’ve always loved synths and diy so naturally it’s led me here. I finally ordered my first piece of kit for my new set up it’s the koassilator pro plus. And I’m bothering components to start on my modular synth project. Looking forward to talking with y’all.

I suspect “bothering components” is an autocorrect error, but it’s my new favorite DIY phrase
