Hey there! Name is Tom and I started playing with electronics and music around a year ago. I had the idea of connecting one of the function generators at my school lab to a speaker and without realising, I started making my modular setup! It’s 4 cm taller than the Kosmo Modules, But it does the trick very well.

I’m still working on it, there have been many prototypes and things but this is the best one i have made so far. Right now I’m making an Envelope Generator pcb whose schematic I found online along with a raspberry pi pico sequencer.

I hope I can get to knowing you peeps.
Best wishes,

Tom : P

PS: i have to fix the LFO, its going too fast lol

Hi, I’m Theo. I’ve been posting on here for a couple of days now but haven’t properly introduced myself. I got into making modular synths about a year ago after stumbling across Sam’s channel. I work in the music industry as a Stagehand, Rigger and most recently started working as an Audio Engineer. My job keeps me busy during festival season but when winter hits there’s not many gigs so I spend most of my time holed up in my camper in rural Washington tinkering with electronics and making weird sounds at high amplitude that my neighbors absolutely love. Here’s a picture of my home/studio/laboratory/workshop

As far as projects go, the I built the audio rack in the photo out of an old bed frame that I chopped up, the type that’s made out of heavy angle iron. I just drilled some hole in the metal for mounting gear, attached it to a base and added some diag supports and voila, free diy audio rack. I’ve also been modding the hell out of my camper so accommodate my ever expanding studio. I built a desk out of some scrap wood and a pane of tempered glass, added rollout drawer tracks so I can slide my keyboard in and out. Most recently I’ve gotten back into building synths, I finally made a simple 1V/Oct 3340 synth after discovering that my previous failures were due to not understanding bipolar DC power.

Welcome, there are a few of us in Washington. May I ask what area?

Thanks. I’m in east Lewis county, near white pass. My work has me spend a lot of time around king, pierce and snohomish counties as well. It would be great to connect wiith others that are into modular. Besides my partner who works with me on projects, I don’t know anyone else with the same interests.

welcome all you new folke.

Cool, I’m up near Bellingham. Haven’t been through White Pass, but visited Riffe Lake many times over the years.

Nice, I’ve only been to Bellingham a couple of times, I was just up there a few weeks ago for a gig at the mount baker theater. I’m only a few miles from riffle lake.

Hi Theo , IATSE 38 [ Detroit ] here . I don’t do much stage hand stuff mostly construction on movie / advert sets when not doing home remodeling in the real world . well welcome aboard there is plenty of information already here and good people that can sometimes help out.

Hey how’s it going? I’m Fluxfumes. I’ve been doing modular stuff for a little over a year, I’ve built a handful of modules (sometimes successfully!) and I’m pretty much starting from the beginning with building electronics.

I’ve mostly got an ear for industrial and acid house, and super weird stuff. Lots of thrash metal and dad rock too, but whatever. Idk, feels weird talking about myself.

I know so very little right now about synth circuit design, except ‘mind the stripe’. I’ve got a few stripboard layouts that I’m trying to BS my way through, and I’ll eventually post them for the community to tear apart.

Welp, perhaps I should go warm up the iron. See y’all in the stripboard threads!

hi and welcome  what have you been building?

I’m working on a few mods to improve the Moog Mavis. I want to give it a noise circuit, a manual trigger button for the envelope, and perhaps another vca for better articulation of the wave folder. I could write a thesis about why the wave folder’s implementation is questionable.

Other than that, I’ve built a handful of kits, like the erica polivoks filter and the Thomas Henry 555vco. Both of those were kits though, no stripboard projects yet. I tried my hand at the super simple mixer but it turned out not to be so super simple. I also haven’t been able to get the hagiwo passive wave shaper to work. Eventually I’ll get it right.
