Hi I’m Cukier :]
I’m just starting adventure with analog synthesizers, but I don’t have a lot of experience with electronics/ soldering etc. so everything is completely new for me.
Now I’m making all basic DIY project from LMNC step by step. I’ve already made extended version of oscillator (with square), two power supply, efx which I’ve got from aliexpres, and envelope generator which I don’t know if it works (I don’t know how connect button ;_; ), because I’ve forgot that I should make filter and something which generate clock to check it (I was actualy going to make a low pass filter first, but accidentally I prepared aluminium panel for envelope xd).
I am happy that on the forum are so many helpful and inspiring people <3

I’m sorry; was my joke that bad? Did it just not work at all? The whole point of the post was that it’s nice to see a brother (person of color)on diy synth site. And, when you read it, knowing that it’s a hobby that in the US and Britain is predominantly a white participation and production activity, the reader is (supposed to be) expecting me to say as much, but… he is also a fisherman. Just go to Cornwall or Maine or f@#$ing Wales! Not exactly what you call diverse communities. It is very nice to see cultural diversity in the (it’s not call Af-rack) community, same goes for, well I wouldn’t wish Cornwall or Cynwkklydmoor on anyone, but if you like to fish go for it. The joke was supposed to be that just when you expected me to be nice in a super awkward way, BOOM, I say “fisherman.” The fact that I am explaining why it’s funny… you get me. Anyways, apologies if I was inappropriate. I am actually from NYC and do live in chicago. And whether anybody got the (bad) joke, I am always happy to see a community become more diverse, excusing right wing politics, of course.

I suspect most understood there you are coming from. Since a lot of new people have shown up, ill just reiterate a few things i have said in the past.
We are here as a community to talk synths and chill. It isnt a rules heavy community, however despite this, we all agree to be civil. If anyone feels uncomfortable with anything posted here, they should feel free to use the available tools to report such a message, or DM me for questions. These things can be usually handled privately, as often they are misunderstandings. This extends to myself as well of course, and I encourage you to reach out to @fredrik in such a case. No one is above accountability. Everyone is responsible for making the community inclusive and awesome, and we should all own it and be proud of it. Our community is what we make of it.

Our community is quite diverse with members from all over the world. But it does not matter in reality.

I dont see anything wrong with the joke there =) I like the ‘subverted expectation’ style of joke. Although, i did just think you were happy to see another fisherman first time round. I missed the ‘chicago’ and ‘lack of diversity’ parts that would have given me some clues lol
I mean its a place full of pasty white guys, We back away from anything that might make us seem racist, Even when its just someone recognising someone else =D

I have actually, come to think of it. But that’s a funny effect that willow mentioned; I see it a lot in the US. When people use the word queer and only straight people get offended, for instance. Classic. Any super good electrical engineers on here?
