Rather than using the IDC connectors in a way they weren’t designed for, why not put 10 pin headers on the stripboards and connect to your bus board with a ribbon cable? It’s generally a pretty minor modification to the stripboard layout. If all else fails you can use a small piece of stripboard to connect a 10 pin header to 3 short wires which would then go to the main stripboard.
