I think you’ve conclusively proved that design is to be avoided. Could I request you post replies to the following two posts to warn people of your experience?

Decent, inexpensive bench power supply?

A third option is to connect two 12v power supply together so that they provide the required voltages. I didn’t test it but it seems to work fine. Here is a build : Note that the important part is the schematic on how to connect the two supplies together. I think it should work with other 12v sources. (you could for example connect 2 bench supplies together to make the required voltages)

Power supplies choices?

Just about to start building some modules but I want to get my power supply done first I was wondering if this tutorial would would work? I’m having a bit of trouble finding a good AC / AC Adaptor to work with the Frequencies Central Power bus (which seems to be the standard), so I thought this might be a good alternative
