Verified Stripboard Layouts!

I like the woodblock! I’d be interested in that isolated with an adjustable pitch…

Nothing special but one can never have enough stripboard layouts, even if it’s just for inspiration

It’s a buffered multiple with 4 channels and 3 outputs on each. This configuration fits fairly well on a 5x20 panel (see below).

I also started to create a category on my revived website ;) Buffered multiple 4x3 | Tamas Gal

Love the panels. It’s like one day your modular will fold up and be a traveling circus,(with a big animatronic giraffe head bursting out the top!)

Medicated. Signing off.

Wow great work, thank you !! I have one of this chip somewhere…
Are your layout verified ?

Thank you! It was a lot of work and quite a head scratcher to figure it all out. It is verified! It’s the layout I used building mine. I recreated in software from my paper drawings.

Here’s my take on a portamento/glide. I found a couple of layouts in the past that didn’t track super well for various reasons on VCOs so I designed and built this one.

If you want more glide, upsize the capacitor.

I’ve added a 1M pulldown on the input as I found it flew off into space if unplugged (of course) and this doesn’t appear to noticeably put my VCOs out of pitch for their 1v/oct feed.

Nice and simple but super important for grindy sliding bass!

Nice! Do you have a small demo?

Hmmm I don’t know how to easily upload the vid I just took to here, if you head to the instragram my partner and I use (@cake_industries) you’ll see my most recent story today having a jam with it, then getting a bit still with some ultra-glide

Ab ok. I don’t have an instagram account so I cannot access the content but I will build it anyways and try it out

I’ll have a look tomorrow at chucking it up on a hidden YouTube video so you can see (it’s getting late here in Australia). It’s a good one!

Hey again,

Here’s a little rough jam I had last night with the new glide module driving a couple of VCOs (and featuring my Commodore 64, Op1, Microkorg, and hand made 808 voices):

https://youtu.be/hoCSJ-4-cDY

(apologies for the rough sound, I was patched in directly from the desk to the mic jack on the tablet with the output turned right down - so there’s a huge level mismatch going on, a little midline adaptor is next on the to-do list)

This is very sick, sounds like TOBACCO! You’ve convinced me, I’m going to build one!

Dude you are saying all of the right things! I’m such a HUGE fan of TOBACCO! I listen almost daily. Have fun!

I could listen to this for hours…

Awww thanks man - it’s the beginning of a new song I’ve been working on, nice and slow and plodding with sweeping synth and grungy vocoder

I really dig it! Let us know when it’s released. Thanks!

This is a bit of a dump. I did a few of the voices from the TR-606 to round out my drums.
I have the Toms and Cymbal that I made into a single module. Everything is verified, except for the noise board for the toms because of how I put everything together on the module.

There are two versions of the cymbal module, one for the combined layout as built and one for just the cymbal on its own.

This is excellent thanks - I’ve been hanging to build some toms and I love the ploopy 606 toms.

A question here though, I can see there’s a few points for low tom and high tom tune - is that a pitch on each?

I had no idea there was a noise source, I assumed it was just a simple frequency with an envelope like a kick, unless the noise if for making it a snare also?

Yes, the tune is the same as pitch.

With the noise, you can definitely get a crackly snare sound for it. With the filter tuned to the other end, you get a very smooth noise over the drum. I’m not sure what color noise it would be. It’s a bit subtle, but definitely adds a unique character.

It’s kind of a strangely complex set up for being a a twin-t at the core. There is also another envelope or something controlling the decay.
