Twin T Drums (Practical Electronics 1978)

Yes the 7805 seems to be reversed in the stripboard
and the High bongo out put look strange too
maybe check with the schematic (p 20/24)

oh I see the mistake, 12v should be connected to the first leg. the 7805 is the right way around
plonker mode will rectify right away, sorry I built my stripboard from that but must have autopiloted it is not the same as the practical electronics schematic through and through for instance I did 12v instead of 4.7 signal was so low didnt even bother ha

as for the 4011 problem ill fix I think its because even though its wired to the wrong side it still works . will rectify both tonight sorry

I designed the striupboard layout then built it to verify it, but it seems I must have been on autopilot when doing so.

… I would be very happy if the stripboard layout was corrected, I also tried something, but it didn’t bring any major changes, the noise is quite low! I love this little snare, I would love to have it in my Eurorack!

Hello LMNC, I would have hoped that you would still correct the stripboard layout, unfortunately not done yet! I hope you have time to do this again!

May I say what I think is a shame here? That the faulty layout is not corrected by Sam! The layout of “Twin Drum” where the snare is faulty and the layout of the “Arduino 8 Track Sequencer”, here the faults were only eliminated by the forum members in the forum and the faulty layout is still online!
I would very much like to become a “Patreon Member” of Sam, but I don’t have a lot of confidence that bugs will be fixed and I won’t get direct contact with Sam! It’s a shame, Sam is a great intertainer and electro genius! Do not mean badly by me!

he is in the middle of designing a Kosmo module for it.

This stuff takes time and people make mistakes. Tweaks have to be made. He didn’t even have to share in the first place.

just be patient or try to work it out yourself and share the results with us

Well then I’ll wait and see if something happens, everything is free of charge!

Will there be an updated version of the stripboard layout?

hello sorry for the delay, it was on my to do list but alas it was a fair way down I was hoping my description in the post above was enough to tide it over as I worked on the pcb version.

the only thing that needs to change from thestripboard layout is the red wire to the 7805. im confused with the snare as I just cross checked where is the mistake?

as for the other mistake like I said in my post above yes it is a mistake to the schematic but it still works.

the 4.7volts didn’t bother with it I used 12v instead, made more of a pop sound.

I have updated it on my site.

if someone can tell me the problem on the snare please let me know as I have looked and looked and seems the same as mine

edit*
if you find the snare isnt triggering try putting a 100k resistor from the trigger input to ground, it seems some power supplies are not liking it.

also what faults were on the 8 step sequencer??? haven’t heard of this. I have seen plenty of successful builds with no mention of a fault. please send me a link of people talking about the fault im interested to see what this fault is

also regarding having it in eurorack. this may be problematic, the outputs in the layout are unbuffered and a tad offset. in order to make it play happy with eurorack you might want to put this after the circuit too

page 327 figure 8 which removes the offset and buffers the whole shabang.

worth a go without though. I have seen a working build of the twin t part. as for the snare, I think the fact the red wire in the pic was in the wrong place will explain that. so will work now. it just wasnt getting power

In the sequencer the pulldown resistors on the inputs should be on the other side of the diodes, and there should be a pulldown on the Zero CV:

The “8-Step Arduino Sequencer” was discussed in the forum, the conversation started on March 20, 2020, here are some pictures! Rubric: Kosmo Moduls!

(maybe you could link to existing posts/threads instead of filling the Twin T Drums thread with sequencer complaints?)

I have no idea how to link, sorry … but I have described where the discussion can be found, I think it is probably okay!

thanks… how odd. ill sort that as the sequencer keyboard project will have an updated counterpart within the next month.
the strange thing is I never got an email of it not working to tell me it doesn’t work, for that project I only ever got emails of peoples finished working sequencers, and for that project there is a lot of them ones out there. maybe they figured out the buttons. how odd. well i’ll update that for when the new one is out with updates anyways.
