hi! just starting my journey into this beautiful mess…i built eddy’s version of the mixer…expanded it to 6 channels and they all seem to work as do all the pots and gain knob…but instead of mixing the signals they are all fighting and modulating each other and i just cant seem to sort it out. any ideas? i added the clip circuit as well but its on its own section of board and shouldnt be causing issues id hope. i suppose i should have removed the 358 and checked it without it
i think the chips are bogus reading through the reviews. thats the second time. im done with amazon
swapped in a 5532 just to check and it works much better. its behaving like a mixer now at least if a little quirky. have some 072s on the way from mouser. false alarm. sorry
I’ve tried to use lm358 for this circuit. It did not work as intended. I don’t know for sure if it was a legit 358 or a fake. I swapped it out with TL072 ,which I also cannot verify is legit or fake, and it worked fine.
Should work fine with a genuine LM358 (or TL072).
the 358 is just running the clip led circuit and i am 99% my 358s are legit as they came from a dif source…i swapped the fake 072 with a 5532 and it stopped acting like it was a dirty cv input and started acting like a mixer albeit a weirdly scaling one and im hoping the tl072 from mouser make it act right as it was the chip i built it for
thanks! i put a 3352 chip into it as it was the only other style of low noise op amp i had that wasnt a fake bridgold ( i fell into buying the best deals on amazonafteri had already spent so much and ended up with about 10-12 dif styles of fake dirty chips that im returning this week. the 358 is running just the clip circuit and seems to be fine. ill probably swap it anyways jsut to get all the amazon chips out of my builds
I made a note in the text of the mixer article to not use fake chips in this design. I’m glad you got it working in the end.
thank you for everything! I ordered parts to make about half of the modules on your site from amazon. and i just replaced nearly all of them with known legit parts even real tempcos. hopefully this is the last time it happens. its been so many years since ive bought components i had no idea it was even an issue. this isnt a hobby where being frugal on ICs works out apparently.
Yes it’s a shame the Chinese are dumping so many fake chips on the market. Believe me, I’ve bought my share of fakes too. Looks like you’re planning quite a project if you want to build half the modules on my site. Excellent! Let me know if I can be of any help or if you come across any issues.
one recent day after dropping a double album on my birthday i bent a speak and spell because i was tired of staring at a computer for 12 + hours a day. and it reminded me how much i missed the smell of rosin burning. been hooked to the rush of live recording from something i built ever since. its embarrassing to admit but i built the same 555 lfo (caspers) 15 times after the first success and it took me that long to realize it wasnt working because the chips that didnt come in my initial starter kit i got with an arduino were bad. (why the first circuit attempt had worked) i assumed for weeks that it was just something i did. i got REALLY good at making that lfo though! even then i had assumed it was just an unlucky batch of 555s. took making something as simple as a mixer (also why i made it first didnt trust my skills after so many failures) to realize it was probably ALL of my chips.
