Hi, I’m in the process of jumping for Eurorack to Kosmo. Does anyone have a good source for 1/4 patch cables? I’ve been looking at places like mono price and amazon, and it looks like there’s ~$5 a pop barrier on pre-made cables.
So far the best option I’ve seen is making your own with pugs from Rapid at ~$1.5 for 2 plugs plus the wire.
I recently picked up some cheap cables on eBay. 60 cm (2ft) cables, big mono jacks (6.35mm) sold as “mixing desk patch cables” The plugs are in moulded plastic housings, with an unusual right angle exit for the cables (which could I admit cause problems on crowded module patch bays.) Cost £4.94 for a set of six, tax included, free postage. I think that’s somewhere in the region of $1 US per cable.
Do keep looking, you’ll probably find similar bargains that ship to your address.
That same 8-pack of 3ft (90cm) patch cables is also available in the UK for a decent price. The manufacturer’s code is Hosa CPP-890. I’m glad I could help you to break the $5 per cable barrier.
That must be a new listing because otherwise I’d have to admit to being too inept to find it when I was shopping Monoprice about three days ago. (For these:) https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=7166
I thought about adapters, but I worry about the clearance side by side for the keystep cv outs, as well as the stability of such a system. Just bit the bullet and got the 1/8in (3.5mm) to 1/4in (6.35mm) ones. I have 2 rather long ones, I would have gotten the 3ft, but they were out of stock. The 6ft ones i got are still cheaper than elsewhere.
