hey guys ! i’m having trying to make a simple low pass filter !
the video of sam about it (3:15)
other schem if you don’t want to search in the vid
it actually acts as a volume thing, i don’t ear any filtering ! i’m sure if the capacitor is right but it should be !
what could have i done wrong ?
It’s hard to know what you’ve done wrong if we don’t know what you’ve done at all.
Post photos of your actual project, from above and below, and tell us exactly what parts you used, and we might stand a chance.

yeah you’re right ! i was just wondering if there is really common mistake on that thing ! the type of the resistor is important ?

The potentiometer is the resistor here, and the image you posted looks fine if im interpreting the in and out hookups correctly.
A simple LPF cuts frequencies, so you may be perceiving the “volume thing” as the actual filtering thats occurring. RC filters sweep through frequencies as resistance goes up and down.
What is the value of your capacitor?

really looks like there’s style high end when it’s down !
the value of the capacitor should be 100nf like in the video of sam
the value of the resistor is btw something like 10k

in and outs to be sure you understand everything :
black cable : gnd
green : output
red : input
What are you getting the input signal from and what are you sending the output to, and is there a connection between grounds on the input device, output device, and your filter?

There are also some threads about this build
maybe that can help you

Hey guys,
I am pretty new to these DIY electronics things so maybe someone has an idea how to fix my issue.
I started out by building the super simple oscillator. This works fine and is putting out a nice stable sawtooth.
Now I wanted to build a simple filter for it. I wired everything together like in Sam’s video:
[FILTERS? Build a simple DIY passive electronic low pass filter. #Electronics #Synth]
The filtering itself seems to work. My problem is, that when I turn the “tone” …
or
it seems to be a common occurrence that I don’t know what I am doing,
I tried making the filter from the “Build a simple DIY passive electronic low pass filter” video and all it has done is made my signal really low volume and when I move the pot it does nothing, I have tried every combination of places that the 100 nf capacitor could be and none seem to work however the volume is only lowered on the one following the diagram.
if anyone could help it would be much appreciated!

Hello everyone!
I’m definitely very new to DIY modular, or DIY electronics of any kind for that matter, so please bear with me; for a reference point as to where I’m at, the only module I’ve successfully managed to build so far is a super-simple passive attenuator.
Anyway, the setup I’ve been using to try to test this passive RC filter is this:
My oscillator is a really simple synth from a kit that I think was meant for kids, it has a potentiometer for pitch and two others that change the c…
