I debated if I wanted to set things back for protection - or pull them forward for accessibility. I don’t plan to gig - but I do plan on sometimes taking the synth places to let others play with it. And…I’m really good at knocking into things around the house. So I figured some protection made sense. But I didn’t want things as far back as Sam does in his case building video.
Having to correct my case dimensions with the router gave me an easy answer since that left a lip about 1" deep. So I just set things back however far that was. Which is enough that the tops of knobs still protrude - but not very much.
I was actually thinking about making two cases and designing them so they’d fit together face to face for transport to solve the lid issue…but then realized if I did that knobs and switches could still interfere unless I set things back pretty far. So instead I figure when I build another case I can just make it an inch or two deeper than necessary - put “backs” on both sides…and then slice a lid off.
Anyway - I did some cleanup of my power supply last night so I can power all of the modules I’ve built so far at once. And if I was going to add one or two more connectors figured may as well add as many as I could fit.
Not the prettiest…but it works.
Then saw @fredrik’s post over here about some potential issues with the MS20 LPF circuit. Specifically his 3rd point about the TL072 potentially locking up - which sounds exactly like what I’m experiencing. I tried patching one of the oscilators from my Neutron through the filter and while I wasn’t getting a big response out of the filter I was able to play around for a few minutes before pushing things to the point it locked up again.
So definitely starting to think that there’s nothing “wrong” with my build - just I’m overloading the inputs on the TL072 and locking it up.
Which means I definitely want to get a VCA together next so I can try attenuating my signal down a bit before passing it in and see if that helps.
As for the response not being what I expected…I’ve still got some experimentation to do there. But want to get things to stop overloading before I dig too deep.
