Messy but working breadboard of Music Thing Modular’s Mikrophonie. I’ve been wanting to build this but Modular Addict is out of stock, SynthCube seems not to carry it, Thonk isn’t shipping, and it’s open source hardware so… homebrew it is.

Ooooh! Whats it do? I assume its microphone related.

Attempt #2 at building a VCF. Its still having some of the problems from last time and does not work. However, at least this time it doesnt short when you turn up the cutoff. so there is that. Im hoping to troubleshoot this some more over the next couple of days, and if i start pulling my hair out, i might take some better pics and ask for help lol.

well wish me luck this evening’s project is to wire up my Arduino Sequencer . hopefully I won’t be on the other thread trying to figure out why it isn’t working .

Nice! Is that your doorkick @devicex

yep and hopefully I wont be kicking it later .

Haha I got mine working now only a couple changes

Yeah, make note of needed changes over on that thread. Input jack pulldown resistors should be on the other side of diodes, there should be a pulldown on the “zero” side of one switch (at least), and either get rid of the external voltage regulator or connect it to 5V and not VIN.

Also make SURE you have enough Sharpies.

the wiring for this thing always made me terrified to try it. like, i know sam says “dont be scared to try it” but i see that monster and im like:

Pretty sure I’ve never done anything on stripboard before… perfboard and PCB both are definitely different. Anyway, just a 555 clock to use at the bench.

the wiring isn’t as complicated as it looks . but now I can’t get the file to load in the Arduino so between that and the stupid ass government unemployment site that wouldn’t work I was about ready to start mashing shit :rage:. went out and chopped some fire wood for awhile, that helped . now to have a brew and chill = visit with you guys and play with some stuff that i know works :slightly_smiling_face: . I’ll get back to the other later / some time .

Is the arduino out of the circuit? Took me days to figure that and my forehead still smarts from the face palm. Enjoy the chill.

Did you buy from tayda or is it a 3rd party? Tayda nanos have special driver considerations. They list helpful instructions on the page for it:

Mac:

If you need help lemme know, ive already been through the annoyance of getting it working, but once you are done it works bang on.

Also fuck the sites for unemployment, those things are terrible.

If you’re on Windows, you may want to test if your Arduino IDE can talk to the Nano clone before you start installing drivers from random web sites. I’m using the cloud one (create.arduino.cc), which uses a locally installed helper program to talk USB to the hardware, and it works just fine on a freshly installed Windows 10 with the clones I’m using.

(using board “Arduino Nano” and flavour “ATmega328P (Old Bootloader)”. YMMV.)
