My build progress

Haven’t built much for ages, but nearly there with this guy, Kosmoified version of the KellerDev feedback spring reverb

I used boxes.py to ‘design’ a skiff for the Melody-Maker I’m working on. I’m not sure whether I will use this or mount the device once it is ready in my rack.

Quite a long time ago I designed and 3D printed a battery eliminator ‘thing’ for my Pocket Operator. I’ve thought about Euroracking it but I’d rather a PO-33 like yours than the PO-16 taking up space in the case.

Finished building a MiniDexed today:

Peertube ad-free version:

It’s not that useful to me yet before I add a CV to MIDI circuit to my rack though, thinking of making it a little expander.

Is that a Zero W? How does minidexed run on it? I’m guessing you don’t get the whole 8tones, but it’s functionally equivalent to a single DX7? Do you loose any other functionality?

I have a spare Zero W I keep debating doing this with…

Zero W, single tone generator, I can get up to 5 notes in a chord before audible crackling, more polyphony than that if the notes don’t start all at once. Since I plan to make it a little CV to MIDI expander and use it monophonically, it’s not a problem for my own needs, but would be limiting to a keyboardist.

Nice to see a fellow Rock Band keytar owner!

How much fun is this?

If you mean the drum sequencer, not much fun so far as I have got nothing to use with

Looks great, @AriaSalvatrice, and nice to share all the build details at Akkoma

Good experiment with any spare Pi, no hardware needed at all if you use headphone socket and MIDI keyboard plugged into USB.
Much better sound with PCM5102 DAC module.

If you’re buying a Pi specially, the Pi Zero 2 W can run all 8 tone generators at once with all my fingers.
But watch out: 5V at 300mA is a heavy load on a 7805 voltage regulator, so I had to use a LM2596 DC/DC convertor.

Thanks, I post live build threads on fedi sometimes but it’s also a personal account & shitpost central so i rarely mention them here.

Your build is cool! Much more pro than my punk ratnest style. Had I seen your page beforehand It’d have saved me time trying out a 7805 (see that thermometer in my video? yeah) lol

I’ve had some new cases laser cut. Assembled and wired up the first one today.

It looks really nice. The laser cut gives it a bit of a Swedish touch (ikea)
Am I counting 46 power connections?

Yeah definitely looks IKEA haha. I will give it a coat of varnish to shake that off a bit. Should be 24 connectors per 800mm row I think. Slight overkill, but at least there’ll always be a connector in reach.

I’m trying to see if I can do a negative template using vinyl lettering and spray paint.

Going to finish the lettering, spray another coat of white primer over the top (which might help stop any bleed through). Then I’m going to spray it black and peel off the lettering.

We’ll see…

Ikea would allow for a choice of colour, not only varnish though …

Getting awefully close to finishing my pièce de résistance, the Polymorph VCO, based on the SSI2130. Through-zero FM, voltage-controlled waveform mixer, 3-shape suboscillator, the works…

Some progress on my Stochastic-Melody-Make-O-Matic. Now 4 midi channels are working. Here 3 are demo-ed:

The templating didn’t work, think the mistake was using acrylic spray paint which went on thinker than expected.

Anyway, I loved the embossed look…

Except then I melted the finish with the final clear coat and it cracked and warped in places.

So then I had to sand those bits out, which ruined the embossed look.

Ended up just using white lettering and clear coating that. Looks fine…

I have these giant boss and moog style knobs that I look really good on it. Time to buy the pots and switches.
