Finally made a power rail and connectors etc to distribute power. Got the Big Button working great. 808 kick is very nice but a little clicky. Made a few vactrols which are kind of ok but a little too on/off. Made a IAMO today which works great and a S&H which is awesome combined with the noise module and the 4046 vco. Also made a dual AR but it was pretty complex so I’ve not had the nerve to test it yet. Got the Kassutronics rev avalanche working after changing a transistor but only at high frequencies and it’s quiet. Going to build the super simple LMNC version. Should be able to fit 3 into one 2cm panel. Had a frustrating day of iron tips destroying themselves. Want through 3 before I realised It was shit solder causing it. Got a Twin T module, Snare and HH planned.

Nice! I recently learned with aluminum, you don’t want the metal to get hot or it melts to the bits (annoying). I found slow (maybe even too slow) and steady cuts the cleanest.

Step drill bits are your friend here. And a drill press. And clamps.

I mean, you can use a hand drill and twist bits and your fingers but they aren’t your friends.

I don’t know if I should advise anyone to, after drilling, flip the panel over and carefully bring the drill in to just touch the hole’s edge, but I do that and it cleans up the back side nicely.

I do that trick on the reverse side. At least until my stepped bit gets dull. Then it’s file time.

oh that sounds so familiar you guys , remember to secure [ clamp ] your work to bench or drill press table , if the drill bit grabs the piece will spin and cut the shit out of your hands or anything the gets in the way !

What I found was some galvanised steel 1mm. So its probs gonna be a bit harder to work. Ive been watching Slowroom doing his thing and fancied trying my (currently intact) hands at it.
So far ive just plotted out the layout and looking forward to a bit of tinkering tomorrow.

Ive got plenty of clamps and ill be using my dads drill press.
Hopefully ill avoid posting in ‘Littany of dumbassery’ asking how to solder a finger back on XD

Its already getting a bit dog-eared and floppy lol
Im glad to finally have a start on some drum modules.

Looking for some hihat modules next, gonna try out SoundBenders hit module.

Almost finished. I will add some wire to connect all metal boxes together so that they have a common GND.

looks cool ! but you may find that two shorter rows side by side is easier , shorter cables .

It looks like you could just keep on building and end up with a synth hamster wheel.

I originally had 2 racks next to each other and initially had problems with cable lengths when trying to involve a B2600, model D, Neutron and K2 into the setup which were not part of the racks. But these were easily solved with 3.5 mm cables originating from PC audio devices (the ones with green, pink and blue connectors). They often are quite long, so I should be all right in this setup. We’ll see. Alternatively I could maybe add a bus system to the tower.

Thx!

While standing on a ladder tightening some screws of one of the back panels I looked down the rack and thougth: yet another perspective.

Uhm, where is my camera?
