Another uncompleted project of mine. Dual clock divider, designed it myself but found out lately that it’s pretty much the same as the one from yusynth (only with a bulletproof front panel)
Looks pretty complete to me. What part have you not finished?
well, it’s not working, all the jacks and some of the circuit is not yet wired.
How did you mount your stripboard? It’s so clean.
As I mentioned in the mail thread, I added a Music From Outer Space mini module to my latest PCB order, and did a test build today. Once I had sorted out some silkscreen dumbassery everything worked, so I went ahead and built three Weird Sound Generators (WSG):
This is the “original recipe” version of the WSG, with an onboard 9V regulator so I can run it off ±12 V. More fun to play with than I expected.
(the “logo” on the reverse side could fit in the dumbassery thread, btw. I positioned the text very carefully, but forgot to check where the component holes were…)
I started to build a (reborn) WSG in 2010 and finished it about three years later. “Finished” aside from a few tweaks and upgrades that… well, never got done.
Glad to see not everyone’s as lame as me.
purtty knobs . not really thrilled with the yellow the color is off on the different sizes .
finished putting power supplies together last weekend . now to make up the power cables .
Quad kosmo! @devicex
yeah I have an obsessive problem with hobbies …
I feel that. This synth business is my second hobby
I think the only reason I get away with it with the wife is because its not drugs, alcohol or strippers .
Build or record her something quick. This is a much more thought and time consuming hobby than any of the three alternatives you mentioned. My youngest is my carer which is a tough switch having been the single dad who raised her. My next project is to build Jan Osterman’s nano pops drum machine and install it into her portable guitar amp. A half hour build that will take me at least a week these days. My point is that building a modular synth is a great personal achievement, a monument if you like and it’s important we include those around us who give us the time, space and support in that creation. Name a rack after your wife; put your kids face or favorite thing on a panel or compose a piece for them.
I love your creations and your attitude btw. Sorry to sound like an old buzz kill. As you were friend.
I understand , I absolutely appreciate her and show her all the time , though she’s not really into synth stuff . yeah I should include the family more , so challenge excepted music vid on the way , well ok within 6 months . I am glad to hear you have a wonderful daughter to help you . and I hope that the community here and the projects you do help you to keep going .
Both my girls, drummers, are a great support and inspiration.
This community is too.
I look forward to the video and seeing more of your work. Thanks
Finding it pretty hard to accept that I have exactly three 470pF capacitors anywhere in the house and I need six. Went over so many boards trying to find some to desolder. I’ll have to wait till tomorrow. I guess considering the 5 years I’ve become accustomed to waiting for anything to arrive from AliExpress makes tomorrow seem not that far away
have fun with the pin headers, try Blutak to stop them wiggling…
I like the color scheme. This may make it more easy to remember which part of the synth is doing what, I think.
But I see you introduced a bug during the build !
Yeah, when you swap out the purple ones for green and use purple for drum modules it is exactly like the colors on the beatstep pro!!
i saved (way too) many things from the companies trash like these long conector pins.
The 4 rows of pins are stable enough to hold the main pcb and replace many cables at the same time.
The switches have 11 stages and i arranged the LEDs around them like a clock dial so the wiring is very short and there’s no need for labelling the switch.
LED 1 (orange) where the switch cannot be set to is indicating the clock input.
Setting the switch to 2 o’clock divides by 2 and so on
