a module a day keeps the doctor awayâŚ
oh wait, this was in another context
Youâre a module machine!
Donât let them tease you, Dud! You make more modules than a dozen of them combined, fancy wiring doesnât sound any better!
Put the original Wah-Wah pedal circuit from ElectroSmash on a breadboard today and it actually sounds incredible as a synth filter. Would anybody be interested in a PCB of that?
Absolutely no disrespect to @Dud intended! Iâve made one or two spaghetti sequencers myself.
Have you seen that ?
This morning the panels for the Ring Mod, the VCDO Additive and the Utility (2 positivizer, 1 glide, 2 attenuverter) were dry
Now no more wood for panels and i need to buy some standoffs
Yes! Please do that!! And share some sound!
BTW: is a wah really just a bandpass?
This one?

Both do indeed appear to be a resonant bandpass, non voltage controlled. Both use an apparently elusive inductor.
Inductors arenât elusive, maybe those specific ones, but theyâre standard components, you just donât ever see them in synth circuits. Part of what makes this one fun. Adding an integrated LFO and using dual vactrols to replace the pot today. This one is a collaboration with my dad, who got me into DIY synths.
From the Vox description:
In most classic pedals, there is some component which is often impossible/difficult to find or expensive and it is the one which, of course, gives the best sound or the legendary original tone . In this case the Fasel inductor from the first series
There are several options in the market: The Dunlop Yellow/Red Fasel, TDK, Sabbadius Soul Inductor, Coloursound Inductor, Wipple inductor, SOD inductors, miniature audio transformers and coils from industrial filters.
I donât think Iâve ever built anything with an inductor, though this module apparently uses 28 of them:

Iâve never believed in âlegendary original toneâ from magic old parts. Itâs just some copper wire wrapped around a lump of iron. The circuit has changed too, the original called for 500mH but we found it sounds best for synthy sounds at 200mH. shrug.
Iâll bet you donât pay $200 for magic power cords either.
Does anyone know other simple resonant bandpass circuits this simple without inductors? I am looking for something to use in a hihat module. It does not need CVâŚ
In some circuits you can use a âgyratorâ to replace an inductor:
Whatâs the circuit for this? Is this based on the ElectricDruid VCDO?
