My build lack of progress

I’m far too busy right now to be wasting my time on synth building

Finalized my first AO Rungler this evening, and it behaves more unpredictably than one should expect. It’ll get into semi chaotic loops that respond to the data input, but the input clock LED is stuck on independent of any source/lack of source. This behavior is similar enough to other modules unexpected behavior that caused them to land on a “diagnose” pile; now I’m wondering if I have bad power, so tomorrow I’m going to start from scratch on the power side. It’s been a while posting here, hope everyone is well. Got a few new exciting modules in the queue, and have finished quite a few other modules since I last posted, but tonight was a nudge towards questioning what I thought had been a reliable power source that I need to start over while diagnosing.

A linear, well filtered, power supply with 7812/7912 or 317/337 regulators should do the trick. It helps having a second one on the bench to test modules before committing them in the case. Also, a couple of analog voltmeters and ammeters on the bench, to monitor suspect voltage drops and currents draws won’t hurt either.

EQD Dirt Transmitter fuzz. Case was put together using discarded bits and pieces.

Fantastic! I love it when folks repurpose old tech. A pal has a reverb tank connected to an amp housed in a clearly labelled junction box from a Harrier Jump Jet. (It sounds like junk but looks so cool :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:)

Thought I’d be posting in a different thread tonight, but while I was able to finish one AO Hero tonight, my presumptive stockpile of 100+ jack sockets was actually 13, so instead of finishing the second I started populating sidekicks with their last waves of components.

A friend gave me this box, which looked conspicuously like the right size for a guitar pedal. I could even fit perfectly a 9V battery in one of the protective foam indents. I think it was used in some kind of corporate gift, a bottle opener, or a lighter, something like that.

So I sent my friend a blind test audio file where someone played the same guitar riff over different classic overdrive/distortion pedals, and he liked the RAT sound best. Last time I went around the old dusty electronics shops in his area I scored a couple LM308 and a few JFETS that looked right for the RAT output buffer, so I had to build this and give it to him.

PCB design is from EffDub Audio, ordered from JLCPCB. As usual, some of the parts were salvaged from old equipment.

This may be build progress adjacent given that my keyboard wont have to teeter on a guitar stool anymore, but I think it still fits the bill for lack of build progress.

defiantly looks more stable than a stool . got room to add shelves for the modular and what ever noise makers you come up with .

Currently the contents of my former garage/workshop are scattered across my living room floor.

On the upside everything should be clean and organized when I find a place to put it all.
